Miller family fonds

Fonds consists of various personal and farm records of John Miller Sr., and other members of the Miller family. Included are diaries and notebooks, clippings, diplomas, a Miller Farm account book, catalogues of Miller cattle, and other records. The records of John Miller Sr. include: school notebooks (containing mathematics exercises from his education in Scotland); diaries (including notes on purchases and accounts, animal breeding, family events, business travel, and other activities); a day book for Thistle Ha farm; two diplomas from the South Ontario Agricultural Society for best draught stallion and best Leicester ram at the Whitby Exhibition in 1860; a third prize ticket for a Durham cow at the 1863 Union Exhibition in Toronto; a bill for Millerӳ shipment of livestock on the European in 1871; and a program of an 1887 banquet for John Miller by the Uxbridge Liberal- Conservative Association. Records of other members of the Miller family include: a history of the Ontario Provincial Exhibition by Robert Miller; a diary of Agnes Miller; a scrapbook of Margaret Miller (which includes obituaries of Miller family members and relatives, and newspaper articles about family activities and achievements; and six volumes of livestock catalogues and prize lists. Fonds also includes a manuscript music book written by Daniel Whiteside of Antrim, Ireland, and a Pickering Township VotersҠList for 1875.
