Marjorie Stoker fonds

Fonds consists of folklore and oral history materials deposited by Marjorie Stoker and is arranged into two series. Series 1 (67-024) consists of 3 audio reels documenting a kitchen party at Calvert on 5 May 1967; Series 2 (74-230 and 89-067) consist of 50 audio reels containing interviews conducted by Stoker with residents of Conne River, Conne Village, Harry's Brook, St. Alban's, St. John's, mainly pertaining to Mi'kmaq culture and folklore. Included in this fonds are 144 photonegatives (b&w) of the pages of a prayer book in the Mi'kmaq language, borrowed by Stoker and photographed by her son Richard. There is an extensive Marjorie Stoker fonds in the CNS archives at Memorial University.

Kitchen Plans

Series consists of architectural drawings and proposals for new space at Women’s pavilion, café bar, the report from the dietetics department on the operations and functionality of the Kitchens and cafeteria. The department of Dietetics provided and consultant and supervisory capacity when planning the expansion or creation of new kitchen spaces. The plans have been inscribed by the department with the proposed changes from Dietetics are written in to illustrate the department’s notes on space allocation, foundations and equipment needed for an expansion and modification of the space. Series also contains the original WGH cafeteria plans from 1961.

Fonds consists of Journals of Discussions and Decisions of the Permanent Joint Board on Defence (PJBD) for meetings 1-99, 114-129, 142-172, & 184-193; minutes of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s (NATO’s) Canada-United States Regional Planning Committee for meetings 1-51 & 55-98; Minutes of the CANUS Planners’ Conference, 6th - 12th conferences; and of photocopies of material selected from RG 59 at the U.S. National Archives in Washington, D.C. and related to the work of the PJBD, including correspondence dealing with such topics as the Northwest River staging field, the Alaskan Highway, Canadian labour problems, etc. between the respective Canadian and American secretaries to the Board. Also includes 4 photo albums, a picture book and various loose photographs from PJBD meetings from 1940-1996. There are four series:

Membership records

Series consist of a paper written by A.F. Buffett containing a selection of parish vital statistics of the Methodist congregation in Grand Bank. Also included are lists of ministers associated with Grand Bank 1891-1901, and Fortune 1819-1901.

Dr. H. Bliss Murphy fonds

The Dr. H. Bliss Murphy fonds contains 159 glass slides, which are arranged by subject in six series. The slides consist of individuals, families, landscapes, buildings, religious ceremonies and work in India, various microscopic images, anatomical diagrams taken from the Anatomy Department, London Hospital Medical Collection, physicians, including famous physicians such as Pasteur, Fleming, and Koch, diagrams of medical experiments, procedures, and microscopic images, as well as unrelated subjects such as biblical images, a human skull, a mummified corpse and a poem.

Fonds consists of the following series: 1.0 India (65 slides); 2.0 London Hospital Medical Collection (12 slides); 3.0 Physicians (11 slides); 4.0 Medical Diagrams (26 slides); 5.0 Microscopic Images (34 slides); 6.0 Miscellaneous (12 slides).
