Charlie Gathercole Map Collection

The fonds consists of 30 survey blueprints and town plans of Benville, Sexsmith, Laglace, Valhalla, and Buffalo Lakes; one 1928 Department of the Interior and four 1917-1922 Surveyor General maps of the Peace River District; one Prairie Farm Assistance Act map from 1955; and three blueprints of houses from the 1950s, one of them produced by the Veterans Land Act department. Maps are stamped with C.R. Gathercole, Real Estate & Insurance, Sexsmith, Alberta.

The fonds consists of a reel of 16 mm silent film taken in the Eaglesham area and on the Lassiter Project in the 1950s; an Election Proclamation Poster for the 1930 Alberta Election, an enumeration booklet for the 1930 election of Subdivisions 50 and 97 of the Constituency of Grande Prairie; a Canada Elections Act List of Electors poster; some letters from Eaglesham settlers written to Anne for the Eaglesham Reunion in 1980; and two booklets written by Anne Donalson: As We Remember the Early Days on the North Eaglesham Project, written in 1976; and Homestead Memories, written in 1985.

The fonds consists of of Departmental Examinations and Promotions Tests developed by the High School and University Matriculation Examinations Board for the Department of Education in the Province of Alberta. These examinations cover many different subjects in the disciplines of English, History, Languages, Mathematics and Sciences, and some minor subjects such as Agriculture, Physiology and Hygiene, and Art, for Grades 8 through 12. A booklet of exams for Grades 5 through 7 covers the subjects of Literature, Composition, Grammar, Spelling, History and Citizenship, Arithmetic, Elementary Science, Geography, Agriculture and Hygiene, and Art.

The fonds consists of 19 color photographs of the inaugural run on the Alberta Resources Railway--the three hour trip on the final day of the conference. Photographs show the train, the scenery and the dignitaries who were passengers on this trip. A few of the photographs are of a welcoming banquet at St. Joe's High School and ceremonies marking the opening of the railway.

The interviewer is Jim Nelson.

The fonds consists of a collection of farm booklets and 1 cm of farm business receipts belonging to Olaf Kildal and Ralph Johnson, dated 1929 to 1963, from Alberta Wheat Pool at Sexsmith; C L Larson, General Merchant, La Glace; P.M. Haugen Garage, LaGlace; Buffalo Lake General Store; Buffalo Lake Service Station; Shannon & Son, Sexsmith; Sexsmith Garage Co; Mac Perkins Garage, Sexsmith; Maple Leaf Garage, LaGlace; Olson's Garage, LaGlace; E.G. Edey Equipment, Sexsmith; McKinnon Equipment, Grande Prairie; UFA Co-op; and other miscellaneous receipts. The booklets, dating from 1920-1963 include Norweigen immigration literature from Olaf Kildal; Ration Recipe cookbook from WW II, Wheat Board permits and Alberta Hail Insurance Board booklets from the early 1950s, and information on Credit Unions published by the Credit Union League of Alberta. There is also a 1959 Prairie Farm Assistance Act Crop Report, a poster for an Allis-Chalmers tractor, and a report card from Northfield School.

Lubicon Lake Indian Nation Land Claim Research Collection fonds

The fonds consists of: letters from the Lubicon Lake Indian Nation enclosing copies of documents supporting their land claim; statements from government and Lubicon officials; letters to and from the same; supporting resolutions from other Native bands; and news clippings of articles, editorials, cartoons and reader comments which support their position. Also included are direct statements from the Lubicon Lake Indian Nation; the March 1990, report from the Human Rights Committee (sent May 10, 1990), and "The Lubicon Settlement Commission of Review Final Report", (issued March, 1993).

Mack Prentiss collection

The collection consists of a computer disc containing 86 images of the Prentiss and Sheer family, their farm on the shore of Bear Lake, Mack's activities as a child on the farm, workers and farm activities throughout the seasons, and a few scenes of Grande Prairie, as well as 7 photographs relating to the personal life of the Prentiss Family. The Bezanson portion of the collection consists of 66 photographs and 12 postcards and covers Bezanson's first trip into the Peace County in 1906, their homestead on the Smoky River from 1908-1913, his 1913 trip over the Edson Trail in a 1912 Cadillac with an Edmonton Realtor named Davidson, and a collection of Peace Country scenes dating from 1910 to 1930. There is also a Grande Prairie High School newsletter from 1935, a promotional picture of the Dunvegan Bridge, miscellaneous correspondence of the Prentiss family, and a collection of newspaper clippings about the family.
