Land deeds and mortgages collection - Guelph Public Library

Collection consists primarily of deeds and mortgages pertaining to land and administrative transactions in the Guelph area. Many of the records in this collection deal with the properties located on lot 13 Albert Street of the Thompson Survey or with properties on lots 48 and 49 on the north side of Quebec Street.

This collection also contains records related to the property at 72 Macdonell Street consisting of mortgage papers, deeds and a floor plan. Also included are deeds issued by the Canada Company. Other records include marriage licenses and certificates, an adoption agreement, a bankruptcy notice, and wills.

There is no further arrangement to these records.

Collection provides information on Laura Johnson in relation to her roles as a nursing student, both in Toronto and Winnipeg, and a public health nurse in Manitoba. Her records document her work, her research, her family history, and her travels in Iceland. The collection consists of pins, photographs, correspondence, notes, assignments, journals, and papers.

Ruby Belle Dickie Collection

The collection mainly records Ruby Dickie’s wartime service as a nursing sister during the First World War but also documents her graduation from the Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing, and her affiliation with the Manitoba Association of Graduate Nurses and the Canadian Association of Nurses. The collection is arranged into six series and consists of certificates, programmes, service records, photographs, guidebook, and objects, including a medicine chest which is believed to have been used during the North-West Rebellion of 1885.

Couling building inventory collection - Guelph Public Library

Collection consists of photographs and corresponding textual records for an inventory of homes built in Guelph before 1927. The inventory was created and/or accumulated by Gordon Couling, an artist and architectural expert.

Records are arranged alphabetically into series by street name and then generally by street number, often with even numbered buildings filed separately from odd numbered buildings.

Richard Hatt Collection

The collection is comprised of a range of letters, petitions, grants and notes from a number of activities, including correspondence, leases, land patents, and wills. Also included are items that were not acquired during the lifetime of Richard Hatt, but relate to the Hatt family in Dundas and Ancaster. Examples include newspaper articles about the Hatt family businesses, historical tours of Hatt family property, and death notices of descendants of Richard Hatt.

Jim G. Dempsey collection - Guelph Public Library

Collection consists of letters, photographs, and postcards received by way of correspondence between Linda Kearns, former archivist, and Jim G. Dempsey. The photographs and postcards are of soldiers in military dress or uniform. Included are pictures of William Pearson a Guelph native who died in the First World War. Other photographs include civilians, possibly relatives of Mr. Dempsey, and photographs of a pilgrimage he took to the battlefields of the First World War in the 1980s.

The textual components consist of three letters one written by William Pearson and another by a comrade who served with him. A third letter was addressed to Mrs. Pearson by an army chaplain. This letter provided news of her son’s death. Also of interest is a Guelph Evening Mercury Newspaper edition with an article about William Pearson’s death.

There is no further arrangement to these records.

Byerly, and a copy of The Torch which includes an inserted piece of paper pretaining to David McCrae's family. There are also newspaper clippings various newspapers about John McCrae.
