  • 1961-1971, 1991

The fonds consists of 24 reel-to-reel sound recordings. The first recording is Mrs. Retallack's description of her collection at the time she donated the sound recordings to the Yukon Archives. It includes interviews in the 1960s and early 1970s with various Dawson City pioneers (people who came to the Yukon before and after the Klondike Gold Rush). People interviewed include Mrs. Harry McDonnell, Chester Henderson (son of Robert Henderson), Johnny Drabeson, Joe Langevin, John Korbo, Elizabeth Vifquin, Louis Cardinal, Dick Gillespie, Johnny Hoggan, Alan Innes-Taylor, Alec Adams, A.Y. Jackson, Bert Lahr, Bea Lilly and Rev. Richard Martin and several others. Subjects discussed include the use of steamboats on the Yukon River, early transportation in the Yukon, and entertainment and theatre. Some of the interviews took place during "walks" in both Dawson City and Whitehorse and at particular events.
