George Beales fonds

The fonds consists of the account book of George Beales covering the years 1848-1865. The first page of the account book gives the names and birth dates of George's children. The rest of the account book lists sales of meat, butter, tobacco, wood and potatoes by George to members of the community. There are also some entries which appear to list what George owed other people for services he received.

The fonds consists of an account book that originally belonged to Alexander McLellan (1786-1867). The account book spans the years 1817 to 1949, but the majority of the records are between 1817 and 1910. The book contains the family's accounts for their farm in Indian River but also contains marriages in Indian River (1858-1910), a history of the early settlers of Indian River, a farm daybook (1873-1899; 1905-1909), genealogical information about the McLellan family and family correspondence. The fonds also includes a typed essay entitled "Early Settlers of Indian River" which seems to be a transcription of an item that appeared in the "Summerside Journal," 9 March 1898.

The collection consists of biographical information about George Walker written at the time of his induction into the Prince Edward Island Sports Hall of Fame. There is also an article about George's wife Verna who was an active volunteer within their Ontario community. The collection also contains five images including George and individuals who appear to be his brothers and his father in their military uniforms as well as a photo of George posing with his sports awards in 1924.

Robert Hill Edwards family fonds : [1831-1858, 1913]

The fonds consists of correspondence, a journal, diary and recipe book believed to belong to Mary Stubbs Edwards, notebook, and assessment rolls of the Hampshire school belonging to Robert Hill Edwards. The correspondence consists of two letters: one to Mary Hill Edwards from her mother-in-law Marion Edwards dated the 22 May 1841, and the other to Robert Hill Edwards from E.J. Vaughan dated the 10 May 1858. The journal of Robert Hill Edwards documents a list of supplies and settlements of accounts of students in North Wiltshire from 1853 to 1855, recipes, beginnings of letters, expenditures and notes of his farm, a list of addresses and letters written in 1837, an account book for 1837-1838, as well as a receipt book by D.J. Haynes in Boston. Robert 's notebook (1831-1835) includes poetry, lists of books and magazines, copies of letters, journal entries, and genealogical information of the Edwards family. The fonds also contains a three page handwritten history of Hampshire (n.d.) and an assessment roll of the Hampshire School dated the 15 October 1913.

The fonds consists of eight photographs, seven of which appear to have been taken by Lucy Maud Montgomery in 1921. Most of the photographs are of places in Cavendish and Park Corner, Prince Edward Island where Lucy Maud lived or visited as a child. There is also one photograph of Lucy Maud.

Record of marriages [performed by Rev. John Knox]

The volume consists of a volume a record of the marriages performed by Rev. Knox , primarily in Lot 48, between the years 1843 and 1892. The back of the book has been used for writings on certain religious tenets, possibly preparatory to sermons or lectures. There are also some newspaper clippings pasted in concerning Rev. Knox and the Dewar family.

The fonds contains the negatives of the business from the period from 1924 until 1965. The bulk of these are wedding and portrait negatives but also included are groups such as graduation classes, city council, sports and other organized groups and some images of buildings and activities. Some additional negatives (including glass plates) may date from the operations of the Bayer Studio and those in the 1980s appear to have been taken by Gordon Craswell. Also included are a small quantity of contact prints, especially for the scenic views taken in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Three reels of 16mm motion picture film include a wedding and the installation of the Roman Catholic bishop of the Diocese of Charlottetown. Textual material consists primarily of letters of appreciation which were originally housed in a scrapbook.
