William Johnson fonds

Fonds consists of a microfilm copy of a hand printed copy of the diary of Captain William Johnson, compiled by Mrs. J. Grant Thompson, a great- granddaughter of Johnson. The diary entries relate to: the weather; the health of various family members; daily farm activities, such as hoeing, ploughing, planting, chopping wood, and hiring farm help; local travel; local settlement; expenditures; the Rebellion of 1837, the founding of a Sunday School; and the formation of an agricultural society. Copy of diary also contains some biographical information regarding Johnson, as well as Mrs. J. Grant Thompson’s notes relating to the diary.

William Jones fonds

Fonds consists of the letter book of William Jones, written between 1831-1839 in his capacity as an Indian Agent at Baldoon. The correspondence is mainly to Colonel Jarvis Givens, Chief Superintendent of Indian Affairs for Upper Canada, and relates to Jones' duties as an Indian Agent.

William Kingsford fonds

Fonds consists primarily of William Kingsford's correspondence with the Public Works Department regarding harbours and other Great Lakes issues. It also contains five scrapbooks containing newspaper clippings. Additional materials include: mortgage records, programmes for Toronto theatres, manuscripts, notes on historical subjects (including a plan of the Battle of Alma by the Royal Geographer), five scrapbooks containing newspaper clippings newspaper clippings, and printed material regarding Kingsford's career as a Civil Engineer (including a copy of Canadian Canals, written by Kingsford).

Fonds consists of ten handwritten volumes kept by William Kyle in the operation of his general merchant business. There are seven ledgers, one cash book, and two orders books. Entries provide customers' names, goods purchased, prices of goods, and customers' accounts. Goods sold include potash, calico, whiskey, handkerchiefs, cough drops, furniture, butter, and tea.

William L. Garner fonds

Fonds consists of a diary of William L. Garner, written during combat between 28 July 1918 and 17 April 1919. Entries note movements of the troops, sights seen, and where Garner was billeted at night. He appears to have been in London on leave for part of the duration of the diary, and makes mention of a number of locations in Belgium and Germany (particularly Koln). Fonds also includes a newsclipping noting his war injury.

Fonds also includes some material relating to the Gray Carriage Company and the Gray-Dort Motorcar Company, as well as photographs of family members, Industrial Commissioner activities, and photos related to the Gray-Dort Company.
