Alice Perry fonds

This fonds consists of records created, accumulated and used by Alice (Duckett) Perry of Regina, Saskatchewan between 1905 and her death in 2002. The records include correspondence with family and friends particularly her mother Florence Duckett, daughter Floredeth (Perry) Widstrand; and relatives from the Bailey and Duckett families, including her cousin, British actor Robin Bailey. It also includes reports, correspondence and certificates related to Perry's education; and yearbooks, correspondence and publications from her teaching career at Radville, at Wetmore School, Regina (1926) and Balfour Technical School, Regina (1944-1964), particularly the Balfour drama program. As well, biographical and genealogical information; records of Perry's involvement in seniors' education classes at the University of Regina; records related to her work to establish the Balfour Special Tutorial Program; and records of her membership in organizations including the Unitarian Universalist Women's Federation, and the Regina University Women's Club appear in the fonds.

Additionally, the fonds includes home movies created by Alice Perry's husband Harold from ca. 1939 to 1943, and others of her extended family from the 1940s and 1950s. Subject matter includes the Perrys' daughter Floredeth; Christmas, Easter, birthday and wedding celebrations; members of the Duckett and Bailey families; the Perrys' residence and family outings in Emporia, Kansas, and visits to Regina; Alice and Floredeth Perry's travels in England; and time spent at B-Say-Tah. Also included in the fonds is a plan of the yard around Perry's "Periwinkle" cabin at B-Say-Tah, Saskatchewan, created by Floredeth Widstrand in 2011.

Accession 2009.20 consists of postcards sent to Jenny Nielsen, Alice Stevens' grandmother, by Hans Nielsen, Jenny's brother, who was a ship's engineer and traveled the world during his career, plus two studio portraits of Hans, taken by San Francisco photographers (Schoenfeld Studios and Rembrandt Studios). Accession 2006.07 consists of one photograph of Wellwood school,nine postcards, a photo of an unknown man, letters to Jennie Nielsen from her friends and family in Denmark, one small booklet of sacred songs and one history of Denmark inscribed to Kirstine Nielsen.
