Ridge Road collection

Greg Skuce and Barbara Hogan, financed by the Northern Research Institute and sponsored by the Dawson City Museum, have been working on an inventory of the historic resources of the Ridge Road. This collection includes a report, negative film (7 rolls B&W 35mm) and transparency slide film (6 rolls colour 35mm).

This collection consists of photographs of the Chilkoot Trail, Dawson City, Yukon and Klondike Gold Fields, as well as a letter from Hazel Hartshorn Gloslie (b. 1893) describing her winter at Lake Bennett in 1899 written in 1972. The material was collected by Ms. Mills over her career as author and researcher.

This collection contains a number of Klondike and Yukon-related items that the Vancouver Museum deaccessioned from its collection in 1992. The collection includes an assay certificate from the Dawson City CIBC branch ca. 1904; a statement of financial year from CIBC Whitehorse, 1906, signed by Robert Service; a cafe menu from the Arcade Cafe, Dawson, for Discovery Day August 17, 1936; a Squaman's Union membership card, 1926; a Dawson City Curling Club membership card signed by George Black, 1940; railway tickets for the Klondike Mines Railway Co. trip from Dawson to Grand Forks; and a newspaper clipping concerning Skookum Jim (James Mason).

The collection consists of two Sourdough Stampede reunion programs from August 14 to 16, 1930; letterhead from 1955/56 listing executive, honorary presidents, the executive committee, permanent members and past presidents; a newsletter from April 14th, 1978 concerning the 49th annual banquet; the Golden Jubilee get togethers; death announcements; and the comings and goings of the Vancouver Yukoners Association.

This collection contains photographs from the Gold Rush days in the Klondike collected by William Oley. The images include scenes around Dawson City, Yukon including 4th of July events, Robert Service's cabin, river views and streetscapes as well as scenes in the gold fields. There are images of the river trip to Dawson City from Whitehorse including one image of a church service at Tagish Post.

This collection consists of one folder with business correspondence and financial papers. Included is correspondence between Joseph Burke, the manager of the Yukon Saw Mill of Dawson City, Yukon and fellow business owners J. B. Libby, barristers Tabor, Walsh and Hulme as well as receipts from the Alaska Commercial Company (ACCo.).

This collection consists of photographs of scenes of the Gold Rush trails to the Klondike, early Dawson City and Bonanza in the Yukon, mining operations and the Gold Fields, transportation including sternwheelers, trains, pack trains and airplanes, law enforcement, prostitution, street scenes in Dawson City, public buildings and business, social groups such as the Yukon Order of Pioneers (YOOP) and Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire (IODE), and floods. These photographs were taken primarily by professional photographers and include images by Adams & Co., Adams & Larkin, E. A. Hegg, E. O. Ellingsen, Hegg & Co., J. Doody, Kinsey & Kinsey and Larss & Duclos. Unless otherwise stated the prints are 20 x 25 cm (8 x 10 inches). Sections of this collection came to the Dawson City Museum at various times. The major portion was acquired in 1962.
