Capt. C. F. Inches fonds

These 5 army (field service) correspondence books relate to Capt. C. F. Inches's tour of duty in France, in 1916, with the 1st Canadian Heavy Battery. He records information about his routine administration duties, while also providing information about ammunition, equipment, weapons, horses, the awarding of honours and medals, charges of insolence and desertion, military court martials, attack plans, activities at the Front, and feats of gallantry. A number of names of officers and enlisted men are included. The correspondence book dating from June to July 1916 (MS1A) contains a few letters written or signed by Lt.-Col. C. G. Pritchard, R.G.A.

This fonds administrative records of the church, most of which come from the period after 1936. The earlier records include correspondence of the Board of Trustees, 1838-1893, 1957-1958, and some receipts and invoices,1838-1920. There are also minutes of the Board of Stewards, 1936-1949, 1964; membership lists, reports and other material of the Board of Sessions, 1940-1961; balance sheets and budgets, 1945-1964; and minutes of the A.O.T.S Men's Club, 1954-1968.

The fonds consists of family records. There are two lot certificates for land on Germain Street, dated 1783, belonging to John Chaloner (lot 553) and Benjamin Chaloner (lot 554). There is a commission of 1827 appointing Benjamin Chaloner tide surveyor, gauger, and weightmaster in Saint John. There is also a bond, dated 1828, given by Ninyon Chaloner to Benjamin C. Chaloner, executor of John Chaloner's estate. It bound Ninyon to ensure that Peggy, a Black woman who had been the late John Chaloner's servant, received comfortable care during her lifetime and at her death, a decent burial at Ninyon's expense.

This fonds consists of bound handwritten notebooks and microfilm copies. Not all years in the ranges of dates are present. They include the minutes of the Quarter Sessions of the City and County, 1868, 1872: minutes of the committees; 1874, 1886, 1893; minutes of County Council; 1877-1879; and the Sessions order book; 1860-1869, 1875, 1876.

There are records of tax assessments and collections for the parishes of Musquash,1877-1909; Portland including Indiantown, 1863-1869; St. Martins, 1864-1910; Simonds, 1871-1910 and Lancaster, 1856-1910. There is also a record book of the election of councillors with list of voters, 1877.

Craise family

Fonds consists of four series comprised of records created and collected by family members documenting their involvement with the Presbyterian Church in general, St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Sackville, New Brunswick, in particular, and many volunteer organizations. Records included in series were mainly generated by Jeesie Elizabeth Craise's work as an active member of many Presbyterian Church organizations such as the Woman's Missionary Society, Ladies' Aid, Sunday School, Mission Band, many at local, regional and national levels and some records of work with UNICEF, Canadian Bible Society, and Red Cross.

The series include: Rev. Alexander Craise series consists of sermons, correspondence, some records related to churches in which he served; Jessie Elizabeth Craise series, 1915-1994, containing correspondence, certificates, awards, financial papers, and records of her project to document the history of Presbyterian Churches in the Atlantic region; and, M. Helen Craise Beale series, 1963-1994, consists of certificates, awards, correspondence and writings related to her father and the history of St. Andrew's, Sackville.
