John Calam fonds

The fonds consists of a story written in July 1979, by John Calam about his summer work experience in 1947, and the photographs he took during that summer. The typewritten story is titled "Student Summer Employment: Granville Camp, 1947" and tells of his work and leisure experiences that summer. The photographs show Whitehorse, Dawson, Skagway, the White Pass & Yukon Route railway, and Granville Camp mining operations and dredges. There is a 2-page key to the photographs, located at the end of Calam's story.

The collection consists of a fifty page typewritten manuscript titled "Dredging - Thawing and Prospecting Placer Ground in the Klondike District - Yukon Territory". The author is unknown. Twenty b&w photographs are included to illustrate the text. Captions accompany each photograph. The author describes the process of steam thawing, prospecting and dredging in the Klondike district (ca. 1918).

The fonds consists of 136 photographs taken by John Hamilton while living in the Yukon when he worked for the White Pass & Yukon Route River Division as a deckhand. Subjects in the photographs include John Hamilton, Chester Hamilton, sternwheelers, WP&YR crew, the sinking of the sternwheeler Klondike I in 1936, and airplanes. John Hislop fonds

The fonds consists of two copies of "John Hislop's Diary December 17, 1898-February 19, 1901". One is a photocopy of the original handwritten diary and the other is a photocopy of the typewritten transcription of the original. Hislop writes about his daily activities including the progress of the rail line construction, his trips along the route, the Wagon Road Trial, a strike by the employees, the weather, people he encounters, and visits to Ontario and Illinois. George Hislop transcribed the diary in 2000 and added a page of names and terms.

Johns family fonds

The fonds consists of photographs from the Johns family album. The majority of the photographs were taken in the Carcross, Yukon area during the 1920s and include images of Johnnie and his late wife, Gladys, their daughter Ada, hunting scenes, the Chooutla school, Carcross church, and family and friends including Sarah Roberts Cume, Isabelle and Alfred Ellis, Alice Edwards, Albert and Darryl Beattie, and Johnny and Mabel Baker.

There is also a photocopy of a 1969 newspaper article about Mrs. Ruth Tracy.
