Ezequiel Silva fonds

John Graham Housser fonds

Fonds consists primarily of photomechanical reproductions of letters, the majority of which were written by John G. Housser while he was a Prisoner-of-War (POW) in Eichstätt, Germany during the Second World War (1942-1945).

The fonds also contains photomechanical reproductions of other records pertaining to POWs, accumulated by John Housser. These records include instructions to POWs from their captors; POW ordinance; a news sheet from the Canadian Prisoners of War Relatives Association; regulations regarding communications with POWs abroad; and a mimeographed publication for the Canadian Red Cross' Prisoners-of-War and Next-of-Kin Department, Toronto Branch.

Also included are photomechanical reproductions of a photograph of Housser, as well as his registration forms, dog tags, identity card and passes accumulated during his time as a POW. The fonds also includes biographical information about Housser.

Other records from the Second World War accumulated by Housser include arms instructions and instructions to pilots; a certificate of qualification for first pilot, R.E. Gibson; flight logs; air raid regulations; a letter to Housser's father from Canada's Department of National War Services' Directorate of Censorship; a log book with addresses of Housser's acquaintances in Germany; a plan of a prison at Eichstätt, Germany; an inventory of food supplies; a receipt; and newspaper clippings, publications, and broadsides pertaining to the war and to Housser, including a clipping about awards given to soldiers who fought at Dieppe, a report titled Dieppe: The Test of the Coastal Ramparts, and a copy of the cover of the Fall 1981 issue of The Diepper (the official publication of Dieppe Veterans and the Prisoners of War Association).

Armour A. and Alexander J. Miller fonds

Fonds consists of records created or accumulated by Armour Adamson Miller and his son, Alexander John Miller.

Included is correspondence, predominantly from Armour Miller to his wife, Helen B. Miller and their children while Miller was stationed at Witley Training Camp in Surrey, England during World War I. These letters contain details of military training and combat. Also included is a regimental history of the military group of which Armour Miller was commanding officer: the 134th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force (C.E.F.) (48th Cameron Highlanders). Other correspondence includes letters exchanged between Alexander J. Miller (known as Bill) and his mother while he served in World War II.

Other military-related textual records include a certificate issued to Armour Miller on February 3, 1903 by England's Minister of Militia Defence on behalf of King Edward VII, appointing Miller to the rank of Officer in the 48th Cameron Highlanders; programmes for the unveiling of monuments honouring those who died in World War I at Harbord Collegiate Institute, and at Bonar Presbyterian Church in Toronto, Ontario; a request to the Director of Graves Registration and Enquiries for a photograph of Armour Miller's grave; and a discharge certificate for Alexander Miller.

In addition, the fonds contains etchings with watercolour, created by Georges Plasse, showing the Canadian National Vimy Memorial in France.

Other records include photographs of the Miller family and unidentified Ontario lakes and landscapes. The fonds contains an album with photographs of unidentified landscapes and unidentified people engaged in various activities, such as skiing. Also included is a (dismantled) album of photographs showing people and scenes from trips to Temiscamingue Lake (1901), Sand Lake (1907), and Peninsular Lake (1907). Other photographs show an outdoor painting excursion.

Also included is a certificate issued in 1942 to Alexander John Miller by the Brighton School of Art for completion of a course in camouflage and field sketching, and a log book created by Armour Miller, documenting trips to Temiscamingue (August 1901), Algonquin Park (1904 and 1908), and Sand Lake (1907).

The fonds also contains postcards with images of the following individuals or scenes: the family of Olive (Foster) Robinson outside a home at 48 Dufferin Street, Toronto; a school group in May 1926, including Alexander Miller; a postcard showing the 134th Battalion of the C.E.F.; postcards depicting scenes of Taormina in Sicily, Italy; and a postcard with a fabric image of a burning Saint Roch Church in Armenti鳥s, France in 1916.

Robert Maitland Roy fonds

Fonds consists of 22 family letters written between Robert Maitland Roy, his mother Isabella Roy, and his sister, Catherine. Letters concern Roy's life in Upper Canada while he was stationed Fort George in Niagara on the Lake, and his family's life in Scotland.

Charles Irvine held custody of these records until his death in 1981 when they were transferred to his son, Penny Vernon.

The Robert Maitland Roy family fonds was donated to the Archives of Ontario by Penny Vernon in 1996.

Matthew Dymond fonds

Fonds consists of typed copies of outgoing correspondence sent by Matthew Dymond to friends and constituents during his tenure as a Member of Provincial Parliament in Ontario.

This fonds was donated to the Archives of Ontario in April 1988 by Matthew Dymond, along with Ministry of Health, Minster's Files transferred to RG 10 (accessioned separately as Accession Number 21480).

Dr. Alexander D. Campbell fonds

Fonds consists of index cards compiled by Dr. Alexander D. Campbell that list physicians who practiced in Upper Canada until the time of Confederation. Also included is a typed manuscript for a book written by Dr. Campbell that consists of biographical sketches of physicians in Waterloo County from 1824 to 1924.

The Dr. Alexander D. Campbell fonds was donated to the Archives of Ontario by Dr. Alexander D. Campbell in 1988.

Lloyd Hemsworth papers

Fonds consists of records created and accumulated by Lloyd Hemsworth, who was a member of the conciliation committee for the company Kimberly-Clark.

Records include information concerning the June - December 1968 strike of Local 289, International Brotherhood of Pulp, Sulphite and Paper Mill Workers against Kimberly-Clark of St. Catharines, Ontario.

Also included are minutes of the conciliation meetings, correspondence, and newspaper clippings of the strike, and the strike between the same two parties in July of 1971.
