- 1875-1930, predominant 1915-1930
Fonds consists of diaries, addresses, reports, clippings about work in Northern Ontario, including writing Byrnes did concerning the immigrant workers in the recently opened North. In his address, 'Mission to the Camps,' Byrnes estimated that 80 per cent of his congregation was made up of foreigners, "Russians, Swedes, Galacians [Ukrainians], Bohemians, Poles, Finlanders, Norwegians, Italians...". Church services to the unchurched, and social services to provide citizenship training for recent immigrants, are the basis for much of his writings.
