Fonds consists of two photograph albums which document the William Leighton family's life. Includes images of the whaling station in Nanaimo, Samuel and Emily Gough, Emily Woodward, Frederick and Russ Leighton, Nanaimo Mandolin Club, the Free Press Building and assorted views of Nanaimo. Most of the photographs are unidentified.

The fonds consists of official commissions as government agent and police magistrate (1909); marriage certificates and childrens' report card and certificates; business correspondence concerning real estate (1892-1899); and letters of administration and estate administration papers for miners who died intestate in an explosion at the Wellington Mine in 1884, including John Lowry, Martin Lowry, Henry Arnold, Barney McGinnes, John Winders, and Domenico Ricono.

Fonds consists of records created and accumulated by Martha A. Kenny, including correspondence; family photographs and documents, an autograph album (1886), booklet of favourite quotations, a diary, drafts and manuscripts of historical writings including "Notes on Early Days in Nanaimo", "Some of Nanaimo's Early Buildings" transcripts of Cornelius Bryant's journal and letters, numerous articles written by Beth Greenwood and a catalogue of her collection of Indian artifacts. Fonds also includes six scrapbooks, primarily of clippings of historical events but also including one of seaweed specimens and one of dried flowers.

Fonds consists of undated report cards and a 1923 high school entrance certificate for Mary Lane, Quennell School; domestic science notebooks of Violet Lane (primarily sewing notebooks); a program for the Nanaimo High School production of "The Mikado",1927; and a John Shaw High School Graduation Program 1949.

Fonds consists of a Canada Registration Board card for Mary Hardy (1913), a Victory Bond certificate of sale (1943) and a copy of an undated last will and testament of Peter Woodburn, Hardy's brother.
