Cross family collection

The collection consists of 338 photographs, one negative, and documents relating to the cross family. The photographs in the collection come from four family albums donated by Don Cross after the death of his mother. They consist primarily of outdoor activities in and around Prince Rupert featuring family and friends as Don described his parents as great outdoors people who went everywhere. Areas and subjects in the photographs include: Salt Lakes, Metlakatla, Hays Mountain, Picnic Bay, Lucy Islands, Falls River, Remo, LakeElse Lake, Victoria, pets, steamships and people playing shuffleboard on deck, docks, railway tracks, swimming, boating, hiking, camping, scouts, class picnics, nurses, parades, the drydock, and fishing. It also includes a Canadian Red Cross registration form for Alan (1944-1945), and a Prince Rupert High School certificate for Phyllis (1925).

The collection consists of 52 photographs in Prince Rupert and Northwest British Columbia (1914-1952). It includes photographs and post cards of harbour views, the Isolation Hospital in Prince Rupert, Canadian Fish and Cold Storage (1914), Airplanes from the Round the World Flight (1924), bridge to the Quarantine Hospital on Dodge Island, pleasure boats such as the "Hazel" and "Florence B" and one belonging to Stanley Isaacson, S.S. Prince George, S.S. Malaspina, Telkwa, Hudson Bay Mountain, Kitwanga, glacier near Stewart, sand dunes at Tlell, Bulkley Valley and Skeena River (1952).

The fonds consists of records for the island, predominantly the community of Dodge Cove. It includes correspondence, financial records, minutes, newsletters, tax assessment, voters lists, settlement plan, insurance policies and other information from both the Digby Island Ratepayer's Society and the Dodge Cove Improvement District. There are also some records from the Dodge Cove Children's Fund and the Dodge Cove Recreation Program.

Don Hamilton fonds

The fonds consists of both black and white and colour photographs with 2 photograph albums taken by Don Hamilton during the 1940s and 1950s when he worked in various fish plants in British Columbia. They include photographs of operations at Carlisle, Bones Bay, and Butedale canneries. There are some photographs depicting family and friends, Claire Salter, Norman Christenson, Charles McMillan, William Malcom, and Sylvester Anthony MacDonald in a way of life enjoyed by people living at the canneries. There are also photographs of the RCAF MTB Rescue Boat M-234, five vessels named Mary K, Venture, Sambo Point, Coquitlam, and Cape Calvert, as well as helicopters and float planes used for a rescue operation when a U.S. Bomber crew ditched on Princess Royal Island in the 1950s (Broken Arrow). Also includes a hand painted photograph of a paddle wheeler, and photographs of Vancouver.

The collection consists of 9 photographs and sheet music for The Imperial Native March for piano composed by Job Nelson of Metlakatla, B.C. published in 1907. The photographs include a view of 10th Avenue East and Bacon Street looking towards Prince Rupert's downtown, circa 1920s, the Kaiwo Maru docked at Prince Rupert, the Sea Cadet Band in Comox in 1943, people at Salt Lakes in 1912, the Prince Rupert at the GTP dock, the Hazelton graveyard and the bridge near Hazelton.

The fonds consists of photographs belonging to Doris McNeil. The photographs depict damage and repair work along the Skeena River during the flood in 1936, naval officers and ships in Prince Rupert, a D-2053 float plane in the water near Edward Lipsett (Prince Rupert) Ltd., a Salvation Army meeting, Salvation Army taggers and Everitt Johanson and Betty Wide collecting money outside Wallace's Dept. Store for the Salvation Army. There is also a photograph of Snappy Service Messenger cars and drivers outside the courthouse, Earl Grey's Own Rifles in 1912, and various parade scenes.

It includes the Kaiwo Maru at the Ocean Dock (1967), the HMCS Ontario at the Grain Elevator and in Chatham Sound (1958), a DC6 at Prince Rupert Airport (1964), an oil rig drilling for hydro carbons in Hecate Strait (1968), the Queen of Prince Rupert under construction at the Victoria Machinery Depot yard, Ogden Point, Victoria (1965) and the welcoming celebration in Prince Rupert for arrival of Queen of Prince Rupert (1966).
