R. W. I. Urquhart fonds

Fonds consists of correspondence, speeches, published articles, clippings, conference papers, letters of appointment, event programs, academic diplomas, army certificates, photographs and other material related to the professional career of R. W. I. Urquhart. It includes material related to his education, his years of service in the Canadian military, and his work for Ontario Hydro and the Ontario Hospital Services Commission. It also includes material related to his role as the custodian of the records of Sir Frederick Banting.

John A. Macdonald collection

The collection consists of a small group of original letters sent and received by John A. Macdonald, dated 1855-1891. Subjects of the letters include: patronage appointments, a school bill, the 1860 visit of the Prince of Wales, Canadian confederation, election issues, and government railway policy. Also included is a letter of condolence from Conservative members of both Houses to Lady Macdonald, following the death of Sir John A. Macdonald.

Macdonald, John A. (John Alexander), 1815-1891

White family fonds

Fonds consists of records which document the teaching career of Samuel L. White, who taught school in the Stratford area from 1866 to 1881.

Included in these records are five teaching certificates dated from 1863 to 1868, letters of reference dated from 1866 to 1881, and his receipts for contributions to the Superannuated Teachers' Fund from 1873 to 1882.

Fonds also includes records for Samuel Alexander White, including two of his teacher training notebooks from when he attended Brampton Model School, ca. 1903. In addition, there are several miscellaneous items kept by Samuel A., including courses of study and examination schedules (1896-1931).

Fonds also consists of 13 photographs probably dating from between 1890 and 1910. These photographs show scenes in Peel County including plowing, ice harvesting and skating. Samuel Alexander White of Snelgrove, Ont., wrote inscriptions on the backs on the photographs, which identify the locations and the people in the images.

Fonds consists of administrative and other records of the Ontario Association of Archivists (OAA) and its successor, the Archives Association of Ontario (AAO). Included are minutes of annual general meetings and executive meetings, annual reports, financial statements, correspondence of executive members, and records arising from various outreach programs (including advisory services, conferences, workshops, and other projects). The fonds also contains records relating to the Archival Needs Survey conducted by the Ontario Association of Archivists, with the cooperation of the Ontario Council of Archives, in 1986 - 1987.

Ditchburn Boats fonds

The fonds consists of records related to the ship-building heritage of the Ditchburn family, in particular Ditchburn Boats Limited, a boat building company owned and operated by Herbert Ditchburn in the Muskoka region of Ontario.

Fonds includes correspondence, notes and designs related to patent applications for boat parts invented by Herbert Ditchburn and for boat designs as well as general business documentation for the Ditchburn Boats Limited and its predecessors.

Fonds also consists of historical records and information about various shipbuilding companies owned by the Ditchburn family, including the Ditchburn and Mare Shipbuilding Company, which operated in England and built ships for Queen Elizabeth I to defeat the Spanish Armada as well as records related to Ditchburn family members.

Also includes material related to particular boats built by Ditchburn Boats Ltd. including boats built for the RCMP, the RCAF, raceboats that competed in the America's Cup and other speed boat races, in particular a series of boats built for Betty Estelle Carstairs.

Caledon Mountain Trout Club fonds

Fonds consists of records created or received by the Caledon Mountain Trout Club during the administration of the club. Specific records include by-laws and regulations; notices, agendas and minutes of general meetings and meetings of the Board of Directors; annual reports; copies of Directors' resolutions; and minutes and reports of committees. Records relating to membership include applications for membership and application for change of membership category forms; and membership lists.

Fonds also includes correspondence between the President, Secretary-Treasurer, and Directors of the Club, Club members and candidates for membership, staff and individuals seeking employment with the Club, clients of the Club's hatchery, suppliers and service providers, local and provincial governments, as well as other country clubs and organizations involved in recreational fishing; questionnaires sent to members on policy and rules issues; corporation annual returns; contracts for supply of service and for purchase and sale of property; affidavits; architectural and technical drawings; photographs; brochures; as well as newspaper clippings.

William Kyle fonds

Fonds consists of ten handwritten volumes kept by William Kyle in the operation of his general merchant business. There are seven ledgers, one cash book, and two orders books. Entries provide customers' names, goods purchased, prices of goods, and customers' accounts. Goods sold include potash, calico, whiskey, handkerchiefs, cough drops, furniture, butter, and tea.

Thomas and William C. Smart fonds

Fonds consists of fourteen handwritten volumes which are the business records of William C, Smart and Thomas Smart.

Thirteen of the volumes are day books, cash books, measures books, a pay book, a ledger and an order book pertaining to the tailor business of William C. Smart from 1855 to 1882. In these books William C. Smart kept information on payments, work orders, prices, and customers' measurements.

The remaining volume is the day book of Thomas Smart, a manufacturer of stoves and hardware, recorded items sold, prices, and names of customers.
