Fonds consists of 6 series: announcements series, 1917-1971, which includes birth, marriage, and death announcements; diary series, 1972, which includes a diary of Len Rowlatts daily activities; fiscal records series, 1919-1972, which includes pension records, ration books, Turners Dairy Ltd. milk counts, mortgage records, bank correspondence, a victory bond certificate, savings bonds, Fraser Valley Milk Producers Association annual statements, agricultural subsidy records, and bank books; legal records series, 1874-1972, which include deeds and information regarding property, funeral records, birth certificates, a marriage certificate, and records related to the Rowlatt will; correspondence series, 1913-1972, which includes correspondence from Len s fiance Effie and correspondence sent to both Len and Isabella from family, including family in England, and friends; and ephemeral series, which includes recipes and an airline and rail pass stub from Lens 1969 trip to England.

The collection consists of photographs of the Agassiz-Harrison area depicting individuals, families, businesses, industry (particularly farming and logging), events (including the 1948 Fraser River Flood), community associations, schools, and general scenes.

The records relate to the teaching of horticulture; the development of the Department of Horticulture, the Faculty of Agriculture, and the University; Barss' involvement with the Anglican Theological College and the Anglican Church; his professional career; and his personal life. Some records were apparently collected and arranged by Barss in the course of writing a history of the Department of Horticulture.
