The fonds consists of one series, consisting of a valuation (appraisal) report (1964) on the construction and equipment of schools in School District No. 68, along with inventories of equipment for the following schools: Departure Bay School (1959-1966), Harewood Elementary School (1959-1966), Seaview School (1959-1966), Quennell School (1959-1967), Quennell School Annex (1959-1964), Quennell School Gymnasium (1959-1964), Princess Royal School (1959-1963), Mount Benson School (1959-1966), and Woodlands Junior Secondary School (1972-1980).

The fonds consists of records documenting the administration of the project as well as reference files, oral histories, and a collection of historical photographs acquired during the course of the project. Records document the growth and development of schools in the Nanaimo-Ladysmith area and the recollections of former teachers and administrators in the school system. The fonds is arranged in four series: Project Administration (1987-1989), Reference (1939-1989), Oral history (1987-1989), and Photographs (ca. 1900-1979).

Sarah Louise Wright fonds

The fonds consists of records relating to Louise Wright's schooling in Ontario, her career at Brandon College and Tranquille Sanatorium, and her fruit growing interests in Naramata. Fonds includes personal correspondence; education certificate, college notebook, and autograph book; tax records; business records relating to her Naramata property; pamphlets providing dietary information; and, ephemera. Included in the fonds are two paintings done by Wright in 1894 and 1896. Fonds is arranged in 5 series: 1) Personal correspondence; 2) Educational records; 3) Financial records; 4) Reference material; and, 5) Artwork.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police (Nanaimo) collection

Collection consists of correspondence from the national headquarters of the R.C.M.P. to the Museum regarding the history of the detachment (1981); four photographs of various officers (1953, 1956, [1985?]) and a copy of a letter to Corporal Kuchta regarding recognition of his outstanding police service (1985).

Robert Carruthers fonds

Fonds consists of three plans indicating the workings of the Louden-Wakelem slopes and Carruthers slopes of Wellington #9 mine from 1949 until 1964. The latest is incomplete but does include a manuscript schematic drawing of Nanaimo mine locations. Copies of Mr. Carruthers miner's certificates, copies of newspaper articles written about Mr. Carruthers upon his retirement and his textbooks on mining are also included. A number of these are from the International Correspondence School (ICS). Also included are two Special Rules booklets that outline the rules and regulations of Western Fuel Company mines in Nanaimo and descriptions of various mine jobs (shotlighter, bratticemen, loaders etc.).
