Sports Teams

This sub series includes lists, correspondences, reports and tournaments of the Y's various sports teams. The teams include basketball, baseball, boxing, swimming, tennis, skiing, golf and many other sports. Also includes records of the Golden Gloves boxing tournaments.

Finance and Administration

Finance and administration dealt with how the Y functioned on financial terms. Documents in this series includes insurance, building contracts, maintenance on Y buildings, accident reports, financial statements (includes reports, statements of income and expenditure), balance sheets, tax forms (including forms asking for tax exemption) and correspondences to City Hall. The administration also dealt with day-to-day operations of the YM-YWHA.

Social Clubs

This sub-series includes lists, correspondences, reports and tournaments of the many social clubs at the Y, including the Amicis, the Bridge Club, the Current Events club and Junior Historians Club.

Young Men's-Young Women's Hebrew Association

Fonds consists of the working documents, photographs and ephemera of the Young Men's-Young Women's Hebrew Association, both before and after the merger of the institution. Material covers subject areas such as the general administration, staffing and Board governance of the "Y", the running of sports and fitness, summer camps, arts, leisure and religious programming as well as educational initiatives and special events. These documents take the form of: typed documents, handwritten documents, photographs, playbills, posters and blueprints.

Consists of working documents of the Executive office written by prominent members of the Y's executive, such as Harvey Golden and H.E. Herschorn. Includes correspondence, minutes, memoranda and reports.

Maintenance

This sub-series includes contracts regarding boilers, water, repairs, building extensions and other maintenance functions. This sub-series also includes reports from maintenance workers, as well as internal and external correspondences, with Y employees, Y members and companies.

Fitness and Recreation

Earlier known as the Physical Education Department, the Y had many physical activities for its members. This series includes minutes of committee meetings, correspondences and budgets relating to fitness and recreation programs. The information also includes staff lists, schedules, awards lists, sports teams, social clubs and leadership training courses.
