The collection consists of copy prints of older photographs of Sir Robert J. Pinsent and other family members. Subjects include the Pinsent property at Salmonier, Newfoundland; fishing on the Little River, Codroy; opening of the House of Assembly (1896); view of St. John's; and scenes of the Newfoundland railway.

Robert Newton Anderson genealogy

Collection contains material concerning the Anderson family, founding pioneers of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, including genealogical information for the Anderson’s of Sackville, New Brunswick, identifying the branch that migrated west before the mid 1870's. This consist of: "The Hardscrabble Andersons", by Mary Augusta, n.d. (after 1986); "Two White Oxen, a perspective of early Saskatoon, 1874-1905", from the memoirs of Barbara (Hunter) Anderson, compiled and edited by George W. Anderson and Robert N. Anderson, revised edition 1993; genealogical chart of the descendants of Thomas Anderson (1745-1841); genealogical chart of the descendants of Thomas R. Anderson (1745-1841), with family connections with Seaman, Crabtree, Pidge, and Tingley; and genealogical chart of the descendants of William George Anderson of Saskatoon, b. 1898.

Gowganda mining photographic collection

Fonds consists of black and white photographic prints predominantly showing the development of the Gowganda townsite in 1909 and the exploration for silver in the surrounding area. Shown is the establishment of an overland route into the area; the development of the townsite from canvas tents to log and squared timber buildings; scenes of the newly erected hospital, jail, Roman Catholic church, assay and legal offices, and various waterfront businesses; the exposure and hand drilling of rockfaces containing silver ore, and the construction of headframes, hoist and boiler houses, cook and bunk houses at various mine sites.

The fonds also contains images documenting Arthur Latimer's sport activites from being a member of the 1914 Schumacher hockey team to the Kemptville Lawn Bowling Club in the late 1970's.

The photographic prints have been organized by size and then by subject. The images dating from 1909, which are all contact prints taken from the original negatives, are predominantly either 16.5 x 10.8 centimetres (i.e., 6.5 x 4.25 inches) or 21.6 x 16.5 centimetres (i.e., 8.5 x 6.5 inches) in size.

(formerly Enamel and Heating Products Limited and Fawcett Foundry), possibly early 1980s; a side view of Enheat Ltd at the entrance to King Street, possibly early 1980s; the "Fawcett" baseball team, no date. Also includes postcards of the Mount Allison Ladies' College Park, the Ladies' College Drill. Owens Art Museum, and the Mount Allison Academy Football Team, 2 of which are addressed to Miss Nita Palmer from Fannie.

Francis Gaskin Wade genealogy

File contains research material compiled by Frances Wade as a result of a family genealogical research, consisting of Bulmer and Gaskin family genealogy charts and notes and pictures of members of the Bulmer family. In addition the material includes a coloured photocopy of a sampler worked by Sarah Ann Bulmer, 1855, depicting a house. Wade’s research material about early houses in Sackville and Dorchester, New Brunswick, collected as she attempted to identify the house, is also included.

Ernest Donat Therrien collection

Collection consists of research material on Ernest Donat Therrien’s experience as a prisoner of war during the Second World War. Includes emails between Janie and Gary Therrien and Dr. Steve Harris listing the 22nd Armoured Regiment’s movements from mobilization until the end of the war. Also includes emails describing different sources of information that were consulted including Library and Archives Canada, The Red Cross, and The Memories Project. The research material contains an excerpt from the book “A Measure of Protest” written by A.H. LeReverend who was a POW at Stalag XIB with Ernest Therrien. Copies of the 22nd Armoured Regiment’s War Diary for 24 October 1944 to 29 Oct 1944, and Orders for 27 October 1944 are included in the research along with emails exchanged between Jakke Arnouts in Essen, Belgium and Janie and Gary Therrien in relation to the precise location Ernest Therrien was captured and a possible tour of the site.

Arabic manuscripts collection

The collection consists of six items:
1) En'am-i Serif [Turkish calligraphic manuscript].- consists of several chapters of the Qur'an, Arabic and Ottoman and Turkish prayers, calligraphic rondels and seals, hilyes, and miniature paintings of the Kaba, the Prophet's Mosque at Medina, his personal belongings such as his cloak, prayer beads etc., his hand and foot print and similar images. Special Collections had slides made of this manuscript. A second set of these slides is available in the Slide Library (History in Art Dept.).

2) al-Jazri, Mohammed. - consists of a single leaf from an 18th century religious manuscript, "Hassi Hasin" (Prayer and Contemplation). It is written in Arabic (probably in Turkey) in the Nashki hand. It may be an Ishmaeli text. It is illuminated, gilded and decorated with a floral motif.

3) Firdawsi. Shah Nameh. consists of a single leaf from an 18th century copy.

4) Koran. India. 17th -18th century?

5) Koran. China. 17th -18th century?

6) Maghribi Qur'an (Koran) Bifolium. Late 10th or 11th century. Kufic script.

Medieval Studies collection

The collection consists of: 1) Four vellum leaves by various calligraphers taken from a Flemish Psalter, two French Book of Hours, and a French Bible. 2) Ten manuscript leaves by various calligraphers in France, England, Italy, and Spain, including leaves from a Bible, a calendar, Missals, a Book of Hours, a charter, a litany from a Book of Hours, a Psalter, and a Breviary. 3) MS of John Lydgate's "Fall of Princes" (ca. 1431-1438). 247 slides were made for a digitizing project, from which 10 CDs have been produced plus a backup set. There is also a CD for the index to the web site. 4) MS of "Bartholomaeus Anglicus" (ca, 1240-1250), consisting of extracts from his encyclopaedia "De Proprietatibus Rerum (On the Properties of Things). 5) Medieval Fragments: 13th Century Collection (ca. 1200-1300), consists of 7 folia fragments from 5 sources most were recovered pastedowns from later books. 6) Manuscrit religeuse. 7) Court record from the beginning of the reign of James I. It passed through private hands. The document is in Latin court hand and notes the transfer of land from Thomas and Robert Whitney to a knight. 8) Handwritten letter to William Paston from Thomas Jermy dated 31 January 1565. The letter has been repaired, with a slight loss of text. Also included are a photocopy of the letter; a typed transcription of the letter, made in 1974 by H.L. Douch (Curator of the Royal Cornwall Institution) and amended at the suggestion of Jean M. Kennedy (City and County Archivist, Norwich), together with comments by Kennedy and Dorothy Sweet; a handwritten transcription of the original, by Douch; handwritten notes and background material by Sweet; two typed, signed letters to Sweet from Kennedy.

The collection reflects the diverse collecting interests of Eric Harvie and consists of materials from many different sources.
