The collection consists of short term papers, brief responses to on-going folklore survey project on folklore survey cards and assorted brief items on slips of paper. The collection represents material gathered from English 200 students as a consequence of the teaching efforts of Herbert Halpert and his colleague Elizabeth Orsten. Subjects covered include weather, tall tales, legends, traditional medicine, Newfoundland dialectical expressions, proverbial sayings, beliefs, songs, customs, riddles and games. Orsten contributed examples of proverbial sayings on dumbness. Students obtained the information from informants or from their own experiences. Some biographical information on individual informants is available.

The folklore survey cards contain information from the student manuscripts and therefore are duplicated by some of the manuscript material. Fifty of the cards were contributed by students from other English 200 classes and by Dr. Halpert.

The collection consists of a scrapbook of cards, programmes and souvenirs, and early copies of the <i>University of Alberta Gateway</i> and <i>New Trail Magazines</i> as well as clippings about University personnel.

The fonds consists of copies of newspaper clippings by and about Dr. Ethel Marliss, collected by JAHSENA, dating from 1977 to 1996.

The collection consists of materials collected by Evelyn McEachern and created between 1920 and 1944. The collection consists of a songbook and photograph album from Alberta College (1920) and souvenirs of the Edmonton Grads Basketball team. There is also a manuscript entitled "Flashing Clouds" written by Agnes Stuart.

The fonds consists of of Departmental Examinations and Promotions Tests developed by the High School and University Matriculation Examinations Board for the Department of Education in the Province of Alberta. These examinations cover many different subjects in the disciplines of English, History, Languages, Mathematics and Sciences, and some minor subjects such as Agriculture, Physiology and Hygiene, and Art, for Grades 8 through 12. A booklet of exams for Grades 5 through 7 covers the subjects of Literature, Composition, Grammar, Spelling, History and Citizenship, Arithmetic, Elementary Science, Geography, Agriculture and Hygiene, and Art.

The collection consists of photographs of buildings, streets, sports, agriculture, schools, aircraft and wildlife in Foremost and Nemiskam area. Includes photographs of schools in the County of Newell around Brooks, Alberta.
