Frederick H. Soward fonds

The fonds consists of correspondence (1940-1984), articles and addresses by Soward (1926-1969), book reviews (1950-1965), collected articles and book reviews by others, and a collection of newspaper and magazine clippings. Also included are copies of a weekly column entitled "The Way of the World" that Soward wrote for the Vancouver Morning Star (1927-1929).

Garnett Sedgewick fonds

The fonds consists of correspondence, photographs, clippings, artifacts, publications, legal documents, notes, transcripts of lectures and broadcasts, examinations, certificates and other miscellaneous items. Most of the material was created and collected by Sedgewick himself, and the rest was collected by friends including Robert Roberts after Sedgewick's death.

Genni Hennessy fonds

The fonds consists of records relating to Hennessy’s 2003 MA thesis titled The Spirit of Collaboration: Exploring Critical Pedagogical Principles in Transforming the Museum Through Space and Time. Hennessy was interested in the relationships that developed between community members and museum staff during the process of putting together the Museum of Anthropology’s exhibit The Spirit of Islam, which ran from October 2001 to May 2002. Her purpose was to document the kinds of collaborative processes that occurred as the exhibit planning progressed in order to identify a model from which other museums working with communities might benefit.

Fonds consists primarily of Spencer's incoming and outgoing professional correspondence (1925-1965). This correspondence provides significant information about Spencer's research at the University as well as the study of entomology in British Columbia. In addition, the fonds also includes copies of student examinations (1924-1955), recommendations (1936-1959) and printed material.

Fonds consists of 370 black and white negatives taken between 1917 and 1924. The images are primarily of UBC students at the University's original Fairview campus. There are also shots of faculty members. As well as posed individual shots of students, there are many photographs of various student activities including the annual class picnic. Although most of the photographs are not identified they are very important for collectively documenting student life at the University in the late teen’s and early 1920s.

The bulk of the material consists of files from the 1960s when he was chairman of the Salaries Committee of the Canadian Association of University Teachers.

This fonds consists of textual records, photographs, negatives, slides, audio recordings, compact discs and video on DVD that relate to Kovanic’s academic and film career. The fonds relates especially to her work in Pakistan, India and Afghanistan, but also captures her work with First Nations on the Northwest coast of British Columbia.

Gladys Wright fonds

Fonds consists of a hand-written account of Gladys Wright's memories of the UBC Fairview campus. Also included are seven heavily-annotated textbooks (copies of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale, The Merchant of Venice, Coriolanus, Twelfth Night (2 copies), Julius Caesar, and Othello) used in Garnett G. Sedgewick's English courses. The latter document teaching and note-taking methods from the 1920's, in particular those methods practiced in Sedgewick's classes.
