Bertha Reynolds fonds

The fonds consists of photographs and records of Bertha Reynold's family and her activities as teacher, secretary of the British and Foreign Bible Society, and historian for the Delta Museum Society. The fonds contains Delta Pioneer Record Sheets for 93 families in Delta, B.C. They list the names of Delta families and their members. Information includes: dates of births, location of birth, date of marriages, location of marriage, date of burial, location of burial, grandchildren, and reminiscences. Also included are newspaper articles containing additional information on some of the families, and photographs of family and street scenes, mostly in Delta. The fonds also contains miscellaneous records of Ladner families and a notebook of newspaper clippings of the Delta Board of Trade (1934-36). Family activities on the farm are documented in photographs. The fonds also consists of six notebooks containing minutes, clippings and literature pertaining to the British and Foreign Bible Society from 1936-1977.

Collection consists of researchers/visitors book for the Helen Dawe collection, correspondence, notes, photographs, brochures, calendars, newspaper clippings of people, places and events in Sechelt and District and the Sunshine Coast. Mrs. Steele was a very active member of the St. Mary's Hospital Society and her collection reflects this interest.

The fonds consist of slides taken by Blanca and Ricardo Muratorio relating to fieldwork, folk arts and crafts of Ecuador and Peru taken by Blanca and Ricardo Muratorio. The color photographs relate to the Corpus Christi [Ecuador] fiesta and dancers and the 1998 exhibit at the UBC Museum of Anthropology of works for sale by Andean artists, “Images of Andean Lives.”

Textual records consist of Ricardo Moratorio’s report on folk art, and materials relating to two exhibitions which took place at the Museum of Anthropology: the poster and Spanish text for “Images of Andean Lives” [1998] and an invitation for “Sewing Dissent: Patterns of Resistance in Chile” [1987].

Includes scenes and citizens of LYtton, Earlscourt Farms, and the building of the Trans Canada Highway [ca. 1924-1925]. Also includes Lytton Racetrack, and one framed photo of the girls softball team in 1933, with Nan Dwyer, Rose Dodge, Rose Wardell, Katie Keeble, Fanny Loring, Maureen Dwyer, and Toots Maynard.

These include a large number of images of: the Bowen Island Inn resort complex and ships operated by the Terminal Steam Navigation Company and later, the Union Steamship Company; churches; ferry launches operated by the Sannie Transportation Company; members of many island families; beach activities; school activities; sports; picnics; tent camping; logging; ferries; and, local areas such as Snug Cove, Deep Bay, Miller's Landing, Cowan's Point, Tunstall Bay and Hood Point.
