Spring Park Women's Institute fonds

This fonds consists of four hardcover minute books of the Spring Park Women's Institute, as well as five undated photographs, the photograph negatives, and the photographic envelope. The minute books date from September 1940 to 7 October 1958 and contain minutes of meetings, lists of officers and directors, roll calls, and membership lists. The first minute book (1940-1944) also has financial records, and the fourth minute book (1955-1958) contains three annual reports. The photographs, negatives, and envelope are found within the fourth minute book. No information is provided on the photographs. The photographic envelope is from Meyers Studio and is addressed to Mrs. Burke of 156 Gt. George St.

World Day of Prayer (Summerside, P.E.I.) fonds

The fonds consists of one volume of minutes of the Summerside Women's United Missionary Meeting from 1916 to 1933 followed by the minutes of its successor, the annual World Day of Prayer from 1934 to 1999. The volume also contains some programs, receipts for offerings collected and newspaper clippings.

The World Day of Prayer is celebrated annually in over 170 countries around the world. Themes and writers of the services are chosen by the International Committee which meets every four years. In Canada, services are edited, printed and distributed by the Women's Inter-Church Council of Canada. In Summerside, Prince Edward Island, the World Day of Prayer grew out of the United Missionary Meeting held yearly by the Womens' Missionary Societies of the different Summerside churches. This group met every year since 1916 alternating amongst the member churches. In 1934 the annual meeting began coinciding with the World Day of Prayer.
