Bertha Gregory's journal offers details of her work at the port of Saint John during the winters of 1920-1921 and 1921-1922, particularly with respect to the Red Cross nursery located in the immigration building, Saint John West. She records names of ships arriving; the number of adults, children, and infants aboard; and the ministrations performed.

A number of photographs depicting places and people she worked or served with during her 1919 trip West on Red Cross Train Service for soldiers' dependants, are pasted on several journal pages. Also pasted inside the journal are photographs of Bertha Gregory, her assistants, acquaintances, groups of immigrants, and immigrant children, as well as newspaper clippings, a Canadian Red Cross Society report, and a few letters all relating to her work as a port nurse at Saint John or Québec. There are also samples of Red Cross information cards, in several different languages, which were distributed to arriving immigrants to assist them in locating health care for their families.

The fonds also includes one list each of medical supplies and nursery supplies, several summaries of work performed, several articles about the port nursery, and a pamphlet offering detailed instructions to nurses serving on trains under the Canadian Red Cross Society. A number of newspaper clippings providing biographical information on family members, notably, Bertha L. Gregory; her sisters, Lyla and Clara; her mother, Henrietta; and her grandmother, Susan, are included in the fonds.

Eleven photographs of Bertha Gregory, of the immigrant room and nursery at Saint John (1920s), of Halifax following the explosion (1917), and of Bertha en route to western Canada (1919) accompanied this fonds. They are located in P357 (nos. 25-35).

This fonds consists of a typescript draft of the book, "The New Brunswick Militia Commissioned Officers' List 1787-1867", by David R. Facey-Crowther, which was published by the New Brunswick Genealogical Society in 1984. The material is arranged by chapter or county.

This collection is diverse. Most of the material relates to the counties of York and Sunbury, but a wide variety of topics relating generally to New Brunswick are also included. There are 88 manuscript series.

This fonds consists of historical correspondence, reports, acts, agreements and other material about New Brunswick railways. There are monthly payrolls of Salisbury and Harvey Railway, 1898-1901; accounts of the Albert Railway, 1877-1882; cancelled cheques and promissory notes of the N.B. Railway Co., 1884-1887; and records of the Northern and Western Railway Co., Railway Extension Co., and Cumberland Railway and Coal Co. The collection includes timetables, correspondence, lists of locomotives, notes, notices, newsletters and copies of newspaper articles.

The fonds consists of family correspondence (1894-1980), South African War diary transcript and discharge certificate (1900-1901), biographical sketch, farm statements (1920, 1921), and miscellany. Includes photographs of the Rice-Jones farm, and Cecil in Strathcona's Horse (1900) and as UGG director (1916-1922).

Colonel Babcock always intended to write his memoirs, but a busy life intervened. The contents and arrangement of his papers reflect this intent but unfortunately much of the research is incomplete. The papers are grouped roughly by subject, usually a military unit and then chronologically. The holograph items are limited. Much of the fonds consists of clippings, ephemera, keepsakes and the like. Scouting and the James Taylor material were given special treatment in his filing system. There is also a limited file on the establishment of Adolphustown Provincial Park and a file about issues with local ferries. Many of the photographs in the fonds are snapshots, undated and identified only by nicknames. The books are stories from the First World War. The fonds consists of correspondence and newsclippings regarding veterans groups (1960-1980); an interview with Grace Gough about her life and activities (October 24, 1980); and photographs of the Gough family, Army and Navy Club, Legion ladies national bowling team, visit of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, and Calgary women's organizations (1917-1960).

This collection contains the record books kept in operating the businesses and correspondence related to the business of smoking herring and marine repairs. There is a sectional Aeronautical chart of Boston (V-10), n.d.; blueprints of the barge "Minca" built for the Ministry of War, 1944; a Lee Wilcox poem; newspaper clipping about the replica of the schooner "Bluenose"; work orders for the annual refit of the patrol boat "Gull Light," 1970.

This fonds consists of photocopies of correspondence between Captain G. Nicolls and Captain J. Maclauchlan. The letters discuss the availability and suitability of vessels on the St. John River in New Brunswick for use as gunboats and troop transports in case of action against the Americans during the War of 1812. Detailed specifications of the costs and designs for modifying existing vessels are included.
