After describing the general congregational history of the United Church in Kensington, Prince Edward Island, from its beginnings to the 1990s, this volume gives an account of the history and activities of various church groups such as the Sunday School. CGIT, United Church Women, etc.

Kensington, or Barrett's Cross as it was then known, Prince Edward Island, was part of the Bedeque and, later, Margate circuits of the Methodist faith. A Methodist church was first built in Kensington in 1888 on land donated by Hon. G.W.W. Bentley. A Presbyterian church had been built in 1886 as part of the Malpeque circuit. In 1925 Methodists and Presbyterians joined to create the United Church in Kensington, worshipping in the former Methodist Church.

Collection consists of material relating to W.O. Mitchell's term as writer-in-residence for Winnipeg School Division No.1, September 15, 1974 - November 30, 1974. Includes samples of student papers using "Mitchell's messy method of creative writing"; professional materials consisting of videotapes of seminars on creative writing for teachers; presentations for elementary, junior high and senior high students consisting of videotapes of the presentations and questions from the students; audio and video recordings of readings by W.O. Mitchell from his own work; and audio and video recordings of W.O. Mitchell discussing theme and character in several of his own works. Textual records consist of samples of student papers, listing of the audio and video recordings and bibliography of related materials collected in a kit for use by schools in Winnipeg School Division No. 1 as well as two scrapbooks containing articles and photographs documenting W.O. Mitchell's work for the school division. Also includes material relating to the seventy-fifth convocation of Brandon University, Brandon, Manitoba, held November 9, 1974, at which Paul Hiebert, James Gray and W.O. Mitchell received honorary doctorates, particularly an audio tape of a symposium on creative writing by the three writers moderated by Brandon University Chancellor Stanley Knowles, as well as photographs and newsclippings.

The fonds consists of eleven color postcards, eight of which depict streets and buildings in Charlottetown such as St. Dunstan's College, Prince of Wales College, Victoria Hotel, Queen's Square, Grafton Street, Queen Street, Great George Street, as well as Victoria Park. Other postcards depict Rocky Point, the Summerside Post Office, and the "Prince Edward Island" car ferry. Two postcards include messages to William Carr of Elm Avenue, Charlottetown.

The collection consists of photographs and negatives of Prince Rupert between 1920 and 1966, two scrapbooks containing clippings from the Prince Rupert Daily News' "A Look Back" column published in the 1960s and 1970s. The photograph collection includes boats and ships in the harbour, the Prince Rupert Drydock buildings and staff, Miller Bay Hospital, Booth Memorial High School, City Hall on Fulton Street, views of Prince Rupert's downtown, parks, and scenery along the Skeena River Highway. Twenty-nine of the photographs are postcards and the remaining are originals. The collection also includes a subdivision plan from 1912 for Smith Island Lots 529, 927, 4415 and Part 926.
