The collection consists of one photograph of George Godfrey, ca. 1890[?] taken from an unidentified publication.

George "Old Chocolate" Godfrey was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, in 1852, the son of William Godfrey and Sarah Byers. He migrated to Boston about 1870, trained as a boxer, and in 1879 won a local competition which marked the beginning of a lengthy professional career as a prizefighter. By 1883 he had eliminated all challengers to the title of American black heavyweight champion. Undefeated until 1888, he continued to fight until 1895 when he turned to teaching and ran a boxing school at Scollay Square in Boston. He died of tuberculosis on 17 October 1901.

The collection consists of one photograph of the interior of St. Andrew's Church, St. Andrews, Prince Edward Island, taken ca. 1880, following renovations. The church burned in 1946.

This was the second St. Andrew's Church built in 1862 to replace a smaller church by the same name. The original St. Andrew's Church building was moved to Charlottetown in 1864 to become the schoolhouse for St. Joseph's Convent.

Province House stereograph card

The collection consists of one card of stereographs of Province House in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, ca.1865. Stereographs are dual photographic images mounted on cards, to be viewed with a hand-held style stereoscope. The images are photographed from slightly different points of view, providing the appearance of a three dimensional image when it is viewed through the lenses of the device. The photographer is unknown.

The seat of the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island, Province House, previously known as the Colonial Building, was completed in 1847 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Local architect and builder Isaac Smith had the winning entry in a public design contest. The cornerstone for Province House was laid in May 1843, and the official opening of the building was held during the first session of the legislature in 1847. In September 1864, representatives from Canada, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island met at Province House for the Charlottetown Conference. These September 1864 meetings on colonial union eventually led to the Confederation of Canada in 1867.

This single collected item consists of lottery ticket for a "Map of P. E. Island To be drawn for on the 2nd of Feb. 1864." The ticket is made out to a Mr. Angus Andrew Walker of Grand River, Lot 55. The creator of this item is unknown. The ticket indicates that a Patrick Morrison was the manager of the unidentified company or organization which sponsored the lottery.
