The fonds consists mainly of the records produced during Frank Schoonover's 1911 Quebec expedition. Content of photos includes scenery, photos of canoes and canoeing, campsites, fur trapping, toboganning, dog sleds, and campsite cooking. Also included are shots of Cap Rouge, La Tranche and Hudson's Bay posts at Lory Lake and Point Bleue. Photos depict native peoples, their transportation (canoes and dog sleds), habitations and graves. Other areas represented in the photos include Quebec City, the Lac-St. Jean area, the Ottawa Valley, and the 1000 Islands area of the St. Lawrence. Also included are letters to his parents and girl friend, Florence, which describe the cold winter environment, technical problems with photographic equipment, and the techniques of personal comfort and survival in the wilderness. Fonds also contains some letters by Brigadier Harrison, Quebec, encouraging him in his work, a letter to his wife during the 1911 expedition, and a souvenir photo of himself from Jack London, in congratulations for the success of the 1903-04 expedition.
