Music and Drama

Series forms part of the Mount St. Joseph Academy sous-fonds and includes correspondence, programmes, overview of music courses and related activities, a biography of Sister Mary Margaret Childs, London Kiwanis Music Festival, and a vinyl record of the Academy Singers as well as a cassette tape recording of their final concert.

Photographs

This series consists of photographs of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chatham, many of which were originally housed in separate photo albums. The first file contains photos of the first hospital in the old Salvation Army barracks; the hospital at its King Street location; the first Sisters in the hospital; the nurses’ classrooms and study hall; the wards; the first addition in 1914 to the hospital which was an operating room and nursery; graduates of the School of Nursing including Sister Jane Francis O’Rourke; the nurses’ residence; and Sisters on staff. The second file contains the demolition of the old wings; the boiler room building prior to 1975; and the new wing front entrance in 1975. The third file contains the turning of the sod for the new addition in 1971; and board members. The fourth file contains a photo album belonging to Sister Mary Lourdes Therens with photos of the new addition, board members, the opening attended by Lt. Gov. Pauline McGibbon, as well as Sisters and staff. The fifth file contains photos of the new addition in 1975, the front entrance and areas of the hospital, the operating rooms, intensive care, coronary care, and the parking lot in 1988. The sixth file contains a card with a black and white photo of the original hospital building, and a black and white drawing of the modern hospital building.

Administration

This series consists of administrative documents. There are histories, administrative charts, correspondence, job descriptions, admissions and retirement documentation, and instructions for machines and appliances.

Memorabilia

Series forms part of the Mount St. Joseph Academy sous-fonds and includes 4 photo albums, numerous photographs, programs, certificates, newspaper clippings about notable events and people, name plaque, and a short story written by a former student.

Histories and Communication

This series consists of materials from Mount Hope, Marian Villa and St. Mary’s Hospital. There are newspaper clippings, telephone directories, patient statistics, pamphlets, histories, annual reports, correspondence and name change documents.

Staff

Series forms part of the Mount St. Joseph Academy sous-fonds and contains records of teachers and staff, including teacher information cards, teaching certifications, brief biographies, schedules, correspondence, and agreements. It also includes minutes from staff meetings, lists of staff members, and information about name changes.

Accreditation

This series consists of a Canadian Council on Hospital Accreditation survey.

Nursing Education

This series consists of materials about Fanshawe College Health Care Program. There are program guides and performance checklists.
