The collection relates to the Olympic Torch Relay, an event sponsored by Petro-Canada. The relay involved 6,820 Canadians carrying the sacred Olympic flame across Canada prior to the 1988 Olympic Winter Games. The collection consists of: press releases; speeches given at the kindling of the Olympic flame in Greece; correspondence; a report on the torch design; pamphlets; maps of the route of the Olympic torch across Canada; list of Canadian Olympians participating in the relay.

Collection includes a variety of items collected by the Whytes. Two albums include views of personalities, places, winter sports and other events, wildlife and scenic views at Banff and area, ca.1915-1925. Most views were made with Kodak 3A camera and at least some are attributed to Dan McCowan and George Paris. Third album is mainly scenes in Yoho National Park; includes numbered, annotated prints (perhaps postcards). Other items in collection include: manuscript, "The Canadian Rockies" by A. P. Coleman, n.d. letter, by T. Zouave to R. G. Brett, 1917; Park Hotel account book, Banff, 1906-1907, with records of Canmore house project, 1968-1969; receipt, 1919, and letter, 1966, re piano owned by Norman Luxton and Iva Smith; plan for CPR stop-over log cabin at Sunshine Valley, 1927; signatures of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, n.d.. Canadian Jr. [ski] champions from Alberta [poster], 1962.

The collection consists of a subdivision map for the Allendale district, a pedigree sheet for Champion Airedale Kennels and a program for the Red Chevron Club banquet (1917).

Fonds consists of photographic greeting cards featuring mountain views of the Rockies, Selkirks and Coast Range taken and inscribed by Lockie.

The collection consists of material commemorating the dedication ceremony of Fort Edmonton Park in 1967 collected by R.O. Harrison, Director of the Provincial Museum of Alberta. The collection includes a clipping from The Edmonton Journal, an invitation, a program, a letter requesting a copy of the dedication speech by V.M. Dantzer from R.O. Harrison to V.M. Dantzer and a reply from V.M. Dantzer, and a map of Fort Edmonton Park.

Consists of Olympic Planning Committee minutes and correspondence,Olympic Building Committee minutes, project files, Olympic Liaison Committee minutes and Olympic Oval event photographs.

The Olympic Hall of Fame and Museum poster collection includes many posters produced by various agencies to commemorate the 1988 Olympic Winter Games; posters commemorating other Olympic host cities; and posters produced to commemorate and publicize many different winter championship athletic events held in Calgary.

The fonds consists of images depicting the pioneering period of Maple Creek.

This collection consists predominately of printed materials produced by OCO '88, such as manuals, handbooks, reports, press releases, and education kits; and printed materials accumulated by OCO '88, such as proposals, bids, and consultants' reports. It has been grouped into two series on that basis. A third series contains materials produced by the Olympic Arts Festival, a related event administered by OCO '88.
