The fonds consists primarily of material accumulated and created by Lt. Col. Parker during the period of his military duties in Tibet and time spent there after his release from the military (1921-1924). This material includes textual records such as correspondence with Sir Charles Bell relating to military matters, and letters written to, and received from, Tibetan officers and the 13th Dalai Lama. A few letters written in Tibetan have recently been translated into English and are included in the fonds. Other textual materials include handwritten speech and other notes, published documents such as an Almanac (written in Tibetan), newspaper clippings, and miscellaneous items such as philatelic materials and handwritten children’s rhymes and songs..

The fonds also contains a collection of black and white photographs and negatives, the majority of which were images taken by Lt. Col. Parker, while others predate Parker’s time in Tibet. The photographs are housed in two albums (Photograph Collections A and B), and show Tibet primarily in the 1920s. The images depict military and domestic scenes in Tibet including photographs of individuals from all social strata, as well as local architecture and landscapes. Some of the places (e.g., monasteries) no longer exist. The albums also contain more recent colour prints of the many Tibetan objects acquired by the Parkers (and now housed in the Ethnology Collection at the Museum of Anthropology). Some duplicates occur within and between albums. The negatives correspond to prints in one album (Photograph Collection A). Only a small number of negatives have not been printed.

The fonds consists of records created by Ryckman during his tenure with the Department of Indian Affairs, primarily from the 1920s and '30s. The fonds includes contact sheets copied from photographs that remain in possession of Ryckman’s heirs. Records in the fonds take the form of notes and correspondence. Also included in records is a ledger that contains census information. The fonds also includes photocopies of newspaper articles relating to members of the First Nations with whom Ryckman came into contact as a result of his work, as well as materials relating to Ryckman himself.

The fonds consists of two handmade scrapbooks containing photographs, notes and sketches made by Leonard Humphreys during his time in the Sudan. Humphreys compiled these scrapbooks in 1978.

Fonds consists of records relating to the secession of Ward 6 in the District of Saanich, 1927 to 1951, as well as the proposed secession of Gordon Head, Cadboro Bay and Shelbourne in 1950/51. Fonds includes correspondence, inventories of municipal property, assessments, advertisements, Saanich Relief Act of 1927, and the Act to Validate the Incorporation of the District of Saanich in 1951.

The fonds consists of the records of David H. Flaherty created throughout his professional and private life. They include project research files relating to his work with Canadian and international privacy issues during his time at the University of Western Ontario from 1972 to 1987; teaching and lecture files on early American history, and American and Canadian legal and constitutional history from his time at Princeton, the University of Virginia and the University of Western Ontario from 1963 to 1991; and his personal files including diaries, correspondence, photographs and subject files from 1949 to 2005, including those from his time as the Information and Privacy Commissioner of British Columbia. Within each series, the files are arranged roughly by date. The personal files have been divided by Flaherty into open and restricted files.

Fonds consists of the photocopied registers from the meteorological stations at Tobacco Plains, 1896-1905; Elk River, 1906-1911; and Fruitlands, 1914-1915.

The fonds consists of Dr. Edward B. Harvey's professional reports, proposals, studies, manuals, surveys, transcripts, presentations, books and published articles, written solely or in part by Edward Harvey or by Urban Dimensions Group Inc, under his direct supervision from 1960-2006. The material predominately relates to Harvey’s interest in health care, employment equity, education, and income security issues. <br>

Fonds includes a map of Vancouver Island and an early subdivision plan for North Saanich used by William Armstrong. Fonds includes individual and family portraits of the Armstrongs.
