Fonds consists of records created and accumulated by Marilou McPhedran through her activities as a lawyer, legal reformer, and activist. These records illustrate the breadth and variety of McPhedran's work in the areas of constitutional reform, women's international and national rights, women's health, and violence against women and children. Included in the fonds are administrative records of a number of non-profit organizations and committees of which she was a founder, including the Women's Legal Education Action Fund, the Gerstein Centre, the Metropolitan Action Committee on Violence against Women and Children, and the Ad Hoc Committee of Canadian Women on the Constitution. Other records in this fonds, including subject files, correspondence and conference materials, document McPhedran's academic, research and writing work and her contracted work for women's health organizations. International Women's Rights Project files

Series consists of records pertaining to Marilou McPhedran's involvement with the International Women's Rights Project (IWRP), founded in 1998 and initially based at the Centre for Refugee Studies at York University. The records in this series document McPhedran's work as founding director to fulfill the project's mandate, which was to strengthen the capacity of women's non-government organizations through research and activism to influence the implementation of international human rights standards. These records reflect IWRP's initial primary focus on the Conventional on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) Impact Study and Report, but also document projects that emerged from the CEDAW project, including initiatives regarding women's rights in Afghanistan and a project with the Kharvik Centre for Women's Studies in the Ukraine. Records in this series span the period of McPhedran's involvement with IWRP as founder, director and co-director, both at York University and at the Centre for Global Studies at the University of Victoria, from 1998 to 2005. Records in this series include reports, correspondence, papers, newsletters, notes, memoranda, journal articles, photographs, fact sheets, grant proposals, notebooks, budgets, electronic records, audio cassettes, and grant proposals.

The collection consists of minutes, convention programs, reports of activities, newspaper clippings, submissions and briefs, photographs, scrapbooks and other records created primarily by and about the following organizations: United Farmers of Alberta (UFA), founded in 1909; United Farm Women of Alberta (UFWA), founded in 1914; Farmers' Union of Alberta (FUA) and Farm Women's Union of Alberta (FWUA), both founded in 1949; Unifarm and the Women of Unifarm, both founded in 1970; and Wild Rose Agricultural Producers, founded in 1996. Many of these records have been annotated by Eileen with her identifications and personal comments.

Series consists of t-shirts and buttons accumulated by Marilou McPhedran and pertaining to her activities, associations and interests, particularly women's rights. Included in this series are t-shirts produced by the Women's Legal Education Action Fund (LEAF), Healthy City Toronto, and the National Action Committee on the Status of Women. The buttons in this series are personal, made using family photographs, and protest/organizational buttons.

The fonds consists of administrative and operational records generated mainly by the local section including: textual records; photographs; sound recordings; and moving images. Records generated by the National Council for Jewish Women Canada are included as the policies, procedures and activities of the local branch influenced, and were influenced by the larger administrative body. The records were generated by members of the Board of Directors and members at large. Series 1, minutes, contains a fairly complete record of proceedings from the 1950s to the 1990s while earlier minutes may be found embedded in Series 3, President’s subject files and Series 12, Program, project and subject files.
