The sub-series documents the Montreal YMCA's relationships with the National Council and the Montreal YMCA's participation in national conventions and conferences. The documents include materials created or received by officials of the Montreal YMCA in their capacity as leaders of the National Council, many of which document activities of the National Council. It includes records related to Y services to troops in the Boer War, World War I, and World War II. The sub-series includes research materials assembled by Murray Ross for his 1951 book on the history of the YMCA in Canada. Records in the sub-series include correspondence, conference proceedings, annual and other reports, architectural drawings, photographs, maps, and other materials.

The records in the series are related to the development, management, and delivery of programs of the Metropolitan Montreal YMCA.

The sub-series documents Montreal YMCA educational programs. Included are materials related to development and organizational structure of the education programs, course and program offerings, enrolment, funding, and planning, and development and expansion of Sir George Williams College and University. The materials document the relationship between SGW and the YMCA and the legislative incorporation of SGW as an entity separate from YMCA. The sub-series documents the degree-granting status and university status of SGW and the construction of the Norris Building and the Hall (originally the Burnside) Building. Included in the sub-series are correspondence; annual, financial and other reports; statistical surveys; fund-raising documents; contracts; specifications, deeds, architectural plans, sketches; by-laws, acts of Parliament and related documents; articles and other research and reference materials; publicity materials; conference proceedings; a brief; photographs, and other records.

The sub-series documents building and other committees that have been involved with the construction or renovation of Metropolitan Montreal YMCA facilities. The sub-series documents aspects of physical plant that cover more than one branch, requests from branches for major repairs and replacements, and calculations of space requirements sent from branches to the central administration. It includes correspondence, minutes, reports, statistical studies, contracts, and publicity materials for supplies and equipment.
