The fonds consists of materials created by the City of Edmonton Engineer's Department between 1901 and 1985. The majority of the material is unprocessed but processed material consists of administrative records, blueprints, newsletters, planning documents, reports, and miscellaneous correspondence relating to the work of the City Engineer's Department. Wherever possible the original subject headings employed by the City Engineer's Department have been maintained. Joy and Campbell Finlay fonds

This fonds consists of minutes, correspondence, newsletters and reports of the Federation of Alberta Naturalists, and the Edmonton Natural History Club, the Alberta Wildlife Conservation Centennial Association, and the Wildlife '87 National Committee created between 1962-1988. The fonds includes correspondence, videocassettes, publications, press releases and newsletters of naturalists and conservation groups filed by region or association. There are clippings and materials from the Parks and Recreation Department concerning natural history curriculum in schools, and for the public. Materials relating to the Alberta Teachers Association, the Council of Alberta Rate Payers Association, the Strathcona Acreage Owners Association and other conservation and natural heritage groups are included in this fonds. There is also material relating to the annual wild bird counts in Edmonton between 1986 and 1988. This fonds also has material relating to the Finlay's column about wildlife and the environment in the Edmonton area in the Edmonton Journal between 1986 and 1995. This material includes correspondence to the Finlays and clippings of their column. MS 394.2: This Fonds consists primarily of records related to the Alberta Wild Lands Trust and its efforts to create a conservation area/nature sanctuary at Coyote Lake. This fonds also includes Joy Finlay's Master of Education thesis from 1978, J.C. Finlay's reports on Conferences and tours from Oct/Nov 1971, and a folio of artwork by St. Cyr of Fort Edmonton called "Discovery 1846.";MS 394.3: This fonds consists of informational files dealing with wildlife issues, heritage preservation and parkland development in the Edmonton area. This includes material on Elk Island National Park, Capital City Recreation Park, Nature Trails, Fort Edmonton Park, John Janzen Nature Centre, John Walter Museum, Gold Bar and Mill Creek ravines, walking tours of Groat Estate, Westmount and Inglewood neighbourhoods, the Famous Five, the Provincial Museum of Alberta, the Saskatchewan River, Edmonton area nature trails, Blackfoot recreation Area, and Beaver Hill lake. MS 394.4: This large fonds--7 m of textual records--consists of material related to the natural history and environment of the Edmonton area, environmental educational programme material for the Edmonton Public School board and adult education initiatives, and various publications on natural history and environmental education. This fonds primarily consists of material generated by Joy Finlay during her career as an outdoor and environmental educator and natural history interpreter and public programme developer. This fonds also consists of material gathered by Joy Finlay during the preparation of her book Winter: Here and Now, and by Joy and Cam Finlay for their contribution to the Nature Guide to Alberta.

Brunswick Cannery (Canoe Pass) fonds

The fonds consists of records generated by the operation of the Brunswick Cannery on Canoe Pass from 1897 to 1926, under the ownership of the Brunswick Cannery Company, and after 1902, under the ownership of the British Columbia Packers Association and British Columbia Fishing and Packing Company Ltd. The fonds also includes records belonging to the Anglo American Canning Company Ltd. probably because the company's president, Francis Griffin Bell, became the manager of Brunswick Cannery for the Association in 1902. The fonds includes licenses, contracts, financial and fishermen's records generated by daily operations, plant inventories, and correspondence. The records are not complete. The records reflect its operation as a branch of the British Columbia Packers Association and therefore give insight into the operation of the Association. The fonds has been arranged into 9 series: annual reports, correspondence, financial records, fishermen's records, Francis G. Bell family records, legal records, miscellaneous material, personnel records, and plant inventories.
