Fonds consists of a draft typescript of Baird's "Doctor Archibald MacMechan: An Estimate and an Appreciation," commissioned by The Halifax Chronicle for their 1923 New Year's edition and withdrawn at Archibald MacMechan's request. Also present are three letters from MacMechan concerning the article and a later letter from Stanley MacKenzie regarding an essay by Baird rejected by The Dalhousie Review.

Records include personal materials such as biographical information, curricula vitae, financial records, personal correspondence, school records and memorabilia; records related to committees and associations such as meeting reports, professional correspondence and transcripts of speeches; publications by Braybrooke and others; research documentation and manuscripts; and teaching materials including lecture transcripts, examinations, assignments and student correspondence.

Fonds consists of papers created and/or accumulated by Catherine Creighton and her family, including those of her husband Graham and children Edith, Anna, Lois, Frieda, and Howard. While the fonds includes correspondence from Wilfred Creighton to his siblings and parents, Wilfred's papers are not included as a sous-fonds within the fonds.

The bulk of the fonds consists of correspondence from family and friends, but also includes diaries, photographs, financial papers, personal papers, memorabilia, print materials, scrapbooks, articles, and artwork. Records in the fonds provide a well-rounded depiction of the family's daily activities and lives - from their relationships with each other, their extended family, and their community, to their financial status, values, education, and careers.

This fonds consists of four letters sent from Fred Thompson to John Bell between July and October, 1976. Fred Thompson was an organizer for the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), editor, historian, and publisher. He was a central figure in the IWW for many years. The letters provide a recounting of Thompson's time in Halifax as a labourer and labour activist and reveal an ongoing discussion between Bell and Thompson regarding labour issues and labour history. The fonds contains no outgoing correspondence from John Bell to Fred Thompson.
