The Shantz Foundry fonds consists of records pertaining to the P.E. Shantz Preston Agricultural Works (1875-ca. 1895), P.E. Shantz Manufacturer (ca. 1895-ca. 1910), P.E. Shantz Foundry (ca. 1910-ca.1950) and Shantz Foundry Ltd. (ca. 1951-1966). These include account books and ledgers, index books, a letter book, time books, product catalogues, agents' contracts, handbills, price lists, production records, photographs and a trade sign.

Box/Envelope List (filelist) of Cominco historical records, 1896-1981 (relates to the alphabetic index); 3. File list of PRC reports, with microfilm/reel numbers; 4. Manuscript (typed) of "A Portrait of Progress: the Consolidated Cominco Story" (two looseleaf binders - 441 pages plus appendices, parts 1-2); 5. Another, edited version of "A Portrait of Progress" (unbound, no table of contents); 6. Submission on tax reform to Parliamentary Committee, 1970; 7. Miscellaneous, including notes from a Nov. 13, 1986 meeting of Cominco staff re disposition of historical records, and a numerical list/index of company names, place names, etc. (no indication is given as to which set of files the numerical index covers).

Pullen family fonds

The fonds consists of log book of W.J.S. Pullen on the HMS Falcon (1855) and Cyclops (1856-57), with an extract from the Master Attendant and Conservator of the Port [Bombay] to the Commissioner of Salt and Opium (1860). Fonds includes photographs of HM ships, whalers, St.Paul's Church (Esquimalt, B.C.), and fishing boats at Masset, B.C. Fonds also includes an oil painting of W.J.S. Pullen, partial plans for HMS North Star, Porcupine and Termagant, "The Pullen Records" (transcriptions of historical records concerning W.J.S. Pullen and T.C. Pullen in their expeditions to the Arctic) and ephemera, including a typed history of the SS Beaver.

Robert Carruthers fonds

Fonds consists of three plans indicating the workings of the Louden-Wakelem slopes and Carruthers slopes of Wellington #9 mine from 1949 until 1964. The latest is incomplete but does include a manuscript schematic drawing of Nanaimo mine locations. Copies of Mr. Carruthers miner's certificates, copies of newspaper articles written about Mr. Carruthers upon his retirement and his textbooks on mining are also included. A number of these are from the International Correspondence School (ICS). Also included are two Special Rules booklets that outline the rules and regulations of Western Fuel Company mines in Nanaimo and descriptions of various mine jobs (shotlighter, bratticemen, loaders etc.).
