Hazel Deinstadt Bell's reminiscences about growing up in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, and Saint John, New Brunswick, take the form of a letter to her great nieces and nephews, and were written in the 1950s. She recalls the introduction of the telephone, activities along the waterfront in Yarmouth, as well as street cars, hurdygurdies, trained bears, and Hallowe'en celebrations, in Saint John. She also mentions the Boer War (South African War), attending school, silent movies, outbreaks of smallpox, the exhibition, paddlewheel boats on the St. John River, and a visit to New York in 1901. She makes brief comments about her time overseas during World War I.

The fonds also includes a very few newspaper clippings containing information about her time in England and France, during World War I, and her father's career as a pastor in the Methodist Church.

This fonds consists of a 47-page, handwritten report titled "Journal of Transactions on a Voyage to England to Purchase Horses for the Province of New Brunswick" (1853) and nine newspaper articles (ca. 1853-1859). Also included is a book by Marianus Cuming's son concerning Cuming family experiences in Scotland, New Brunswick, and Australia.

This fonds consists of materials dealing with estates, investments and sales. It also includes records of insurance and debt collection. The files of E. C. Coster (1904-1905) include the estate of Bishop Binney. The files of H. A. Brittain (1906-1916) include the estates of the Binney, Hamilton, Odell, Coster and Bliss families. The files of J. H. Fairweather and P. R. L. Fairweather (1917-1919) include various estate files and the files of A. C. Fairweather and Sons, insurance agents (1919).

The fonds documents the professional legal career of G. Earle Logan from 1923-1948. It consists of case files that include correspondence and legal documents pertaining to divorce, bankruptcy, the settling of estates, the collection of debts, adoptions, property transactions, and civil suits.

Also included are records relating to the Royal Canadian Legion, the New Brunswick Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities, the Wartime Prices and Trade Board, and personal and family matters.

This fonds documents the business activities of John Ward and his sons, John Ward, Jr., Charles Ward, and Caleb Ward, under the firm names John Ward & Son and John Ward & Sons. It includes primarily ship accounts and business correspondence, including communications with agents in Britain, the West Indies, and Quebec; business firms in the United States; master mariners; and New Brunswick politicians.

This fonds consists of the administrative records and correspondence of the Union. It includes minutes, financial records, membership and dues records. There is strike benefits documentation from 1908 and a guide book for local union secretary-treasurer, 1969.

This fonds includes political and public correspondence, petitions, reports belonging to Sir Leonard Tilley and papers related to Alice Tilley's involvement in women's and benevolent organizations. There are business and personal correspondence, receipts, leases, and account books of Tilley and his wife.

Statistical information on: Saint John Post Office employees' salaries, 1866, 1872; ships built and registered in New Brunswick, 1863-1871; imports and exports for New Brunswick 1863-1871, all probably assembled as background information for Sir Leonard, is also included.

This fonds consists of correspondence of the Matthew family, 1892-1925; of George F. Matthew, 1862-1922; of Robert Matthew, 1889; and of William Diller Matthew, 1910-1927.

Also included are maps and photographic copies of maps of vicinity of Saint John and Newfoundland, 1841.

This fonds consists of a notebook belonging to Nelson Arnold, 1857-1884. It includes financial records, election returns of the Dominion election of 1887, notes on deaths and Arnold family genealogy.
