Bradford Washburn fonds

The fonds consists of a microfilmed copy of six of Bradford Washburn's journals which document his mountaineering expeditions into the St. Elias mountains. They are described as follows: Diary of Yukon Expedition, Volume #1, February 1935 - May 1935; Diary of Yukon Expedition, Volume #2, May 1935 - June 1935; The Mount Lucania Expedition June 1937 - July 1937; Journal, June 1938 - October 1938; Mount Kennedy Expedition, Two Trips March 1965 - May 1965; and Kennedy Flights July 1965 - July 1966.

The fonds consists of nine photographs, two letters, two American Red Cross certificates given to Lillian Harbottle, autographed Alaska Highway booklet, one charcoal sketch of a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer and three photograph albums. The photograph in accession 98/31 is titled "Sourdough Squad" and shows men in uniform. The accompanying caption names each soldier. Photographs in the three albums show scenes of Dawson City, Whitehorse and sternwheelers on the Yukon River, 1920-1946.

Fonds includes slides of the Dawson City flood of May, 1979. Mel Oreklin, P. Eng., Hydrologist for Water Resources took the photographs from a helicopter and a motorized canoe on the evening of May 2nd and early morning of May 3rd. There is also a copy of a report prepared for Mel Orecklin by the Dawson City Museum and Historical Society in March 1981 entitled "Historical Review of Dawson City Flood Data, 1898-1975". The report provides data on the magnitude of floods in the Yukon Territory, a flood summary table, a historical stream flow summary (1945-1970), and the official dates and times of Yukon River ice breakup in Dawson City as recorded by the Dawson Chapter of the I.O.D.E. There is also a summary, a section on interviews and contacts, and several photocopied photographs related to the report topic.

The fonds consists of 65 black and white photographs copied from the complete Charles Metcalf collection of 139 photographs held at the Alaska Historical Library in Juneau. The images include views of: Sheep Camp; Whitehorse Rapids; Dyea Flats; pack grains; freighting with horses and sleds, and dogs; Lake Bennett; men in boats; Circle City, Alaska; and early building construction scenes at Dawson City, Yukon.

Charles Hogben fonds

The fonds consists of one cassette tape and a transcript of an interview of Charles Hogben's experiences in Alaska and the Yukon in 1898-1900. The interview was conducted by his daughter, Vera (Hogben) Kelly in 1965. Charles talks about panning for gold, staking a claim on Ogilvie Creek, the supplies needed for the trek over the Chilkoot Pass, the trip over the pass and down the Yukon River. He also talks about being involved in a business freighting miners' supplies from Circle City to Kelly Creek, Alaska.

The fonds consists of a copy of Charles Mosier's diary describing the 1898 journey over the Chilkoot Pass through the Whitehorse Rapids to Dawson City, Yukon; of placer mining through the winter of 1898-99 on Sulphur, Quartz and Meadow creeks; and of the journey home to New York State in June, 1899. An index of people, places, rivers, creeks, trails and boats is also included.
