Ernst Feuereisen fonds

The fonds consists of materials created or collected by Ernst Feuereisen of Pelican Portage and dating from 1922 to [1977]. The fonds consists of trapping and hunting licenses, part of a 1922 map of Alberta,and photographs of scenes, people and places on the Athabasca River including Upper Wells. Some of the people are: Ernst Feuereisen, Joe Siemoni, Mr.Jones, Frank and George Senz, Gordon and Jim Carruthers, Henry Goegler (1884-1955), Joe Larson, Hans Birkigt, John and George Pederson, Bruno and Elsie Goetsch, Joe Laflamme, Ed Gambler, Rose Gambler, Kurt George (Dick) Naumann (1901-1978) and ? Kosloff. There is a photo of Ernst on the ship Thuringia out of Hamburg.

Athabasca Archives Hudson's Bay Company collection

The collection consists of newspaper clippings, lists of accounts, letterbooks, personal papers, correspondence, inspection reports, transportation modes and costs, inventories pertaining to the Hudson's Bay Company and its presence in Alberta and Athabasca, where it established a post from 1877-1924. Included are articles from the Beaver magazine: "Skippering a scow" on the Athabasca by N.A.Howland; The Last of the Brigades by Guy Blanchet; and Inland Journey by J.W.Chalmers (Treaty 8).

The fonds consists of 28 original black and white photographs, 7 photographs developed from negatives, and two pages of excerpts from letters written to his fiance. The excerpts are filed with the photographs. The photos include: Athabasca, Grand Rapids and tramway, House River, oil well drilling rigs, Pelican gas wells, and steamboats.

Gullick Svenson fonds

The fonds consists of a brief history of Gullick and Christina Svenson, including their marriage license and a 1920 Minnesota census record; a brief history of Oscar Swenson written by his grandson, Dan Newland; fourteen photographs of the Svenson family, hunters on trips, the ferry, Imperial Bank of Canada, the Filteau Block, the burning of the first Hudson's Bay Co. store and the Svenson Taxidermy shop on Coles Street.

The fonds consists of a 1976 university assignment on the Richmond Park District, photographs relating to the Nov. 1994 launching of the history book "Reflections from North of the River", and photographs from the Feb. 1995 dog-sled postal run from Athabasca to Edmonton to commemorate Edmonton's bicentennial. There are also 9 photographs taken in 1992 of the Alberta Pacific Forest Industries mill site.

The fonds consists of a 36 page booklet entitled "The Athabaska River Country", a compilation of all authentic information available as to the resources and possibilities of the Athabasca river basin. Contents include history, agriculture, transportation, minerals, timber, and game. There are also 7 photographs including scows at Grand Rapids and the gas well at Pelican. This is a revised edition of portions of "The Unexploited West" compiled by Ernest J.Chambers.

Godsell; a copy of the March 21, 1930 provincial Unemployment Relief act; the Athabasca Echo newspaper of March 26, 1947 story of the drowning deaths of Wilma Harps and her sister Thelma Donald; the names of the Grosmont post masters from 1912 to 1970; a program for the Vets' Vaudeville Show-May 25, 1931 and a 1962 edition of a booklet "Survey of Athabasca" prepared by the Industrial Development Branch of the Alberta Department of Industry & Development. The audio cassettes contain information on the Bissell family, logging operations and personnel.The artifact is a heart-shaped pottery ashtray, with brown and blue glaze, manufactured by Athabasca Clay Products.
