There is also material on his lectures in Gaelic, and a newspaper controversy to which he was aparty, concerning the Gaelic tongue. In addition, there are some sermon outlines, notes on his reading, and one typescript essay, 'On the pleasurable'.

John Duncan Byrnes fonds

Fonds consists of diaries, addresses, reports, clippings about work in Northern Ontario, including writing Byrnes did concerning the immigrant workers in the recently opened North. In his address, 'Mission to the Camps,' Byrnes estimated that 80 per cent of his congregation was made up of foreigners, "Russians, Swedes, Galacians [Ukrainians], Bohemians, Poles, Finlanders, Norwegians, Italians...". Church services to the unchurched, and social services to provide citizenship training for recent immigrants, are the basis for much of his writings.
