John Edward Brant fonds

The fonds consists of a certificate of service in the Royal Navy, 1912-1922; genealogical records of John Brant and his family, including certificates of birth, marriage and death of Brant and his wife Elsie Reed Brant, and his father John Ojijatekha Brant-Sero, 1914-1958; and a typescript of a family history by Brant-Sero, "Some Descendants of Joseph Brant."

The fonds consists of manuscript of "Indian Legends of the North Pacific Coast of America", translation by Dietrich Bertz of Franz Boas' work "Indianische Sagen von der Nord-Pacifischen Kuste Amerikas", typescripts of works on the following subjects: ethnobotany of the Squamish and Okanagan Indians; knowledge and usage of land mammals, birds, insects, reptiles and amphibians; studies of the Bella Coola Indians; Lillooet stories; and utilization of fish by the Colville Okanagan, Mount Currie, Te'u'hus, Squamish, and Chase Shuswap Indians.

The fonds consists of research files for his private consulting work, with some material by colleagues and students from the Centre for Public Sector Studies mixed in. Most of the files contain photocopies of studies and submission by native bands and organizations, government documents and reports, journal articles, brochures, and clippings. Many have been originally marked as attachments, but some of the number sequences are no longer complete. There are very few holograph markings or notes, and hardly any manuscript material.

Frank Gilbert Roe fonds

The fonds consists of records documenting Roe's life and work, including CPR time books and railroad operating booklets; drafts of chapters of "The North American Buffalo" and "The Canadian Buffalo Today", articles, newsclippings; unpublished transcripts and holographs of articles, drafts of essays, novels and short fiction, and transcripts of poetry by Roe; photographs of prairie scenes and locations in England and Wales; incoming and outgoing correspondence; reference files; personal documents of Roe and his wife, including birth certificate, marriage certificate and financial records; publishing contracts and agreements; ephemera; two copies of "The North American Buffalo", with annotations, and articles written by Roe on the buffalo, agriculture, Shakespeare and Marlowe, and variant drafts of "Getting the Know-How"; collected material including journals, brochures, and pamphlets; maps, some drawn by Roe, of Western Canada and the Northern United States, showing actual and proposed railway lines, the buffalo range, Indian trails and the extermination of the American bison; microfilm of the original manuscript of "The North American Buffalo"; and audio tape of interview with Roe by Naomi Radford.

Percy Gentleman fonds

The fonds consists of a scrapbook of samples of children's school work, including drawings, writing, maps, arithmetic and agricultural exercises (1912-1925); 5 paintings; and Christmas concert programmes from Grand Rapids School (1922-1924) and French Bay School (1925-1931). The French Bay programmes include class photographs for two years. The scrapbook contains some loose material and is in poor condition.

Helen Christie Riel Rebellion collection

The collection consists of a scrapbook of newspaper clippings on the Riel Rebellion, including several maps and political cartoons. Also included are three loose clippings regarding Helen's father,1857; Fish Creek casualties, 1935; and an obituary of her youngest brother, 1954. Most clippings are undated, and the source not noted. The clippings are pasted into a copy of Canada Under the National Policy. The volume is inscribed, "Helen Christie, April 4th 1875."
