The photograph shows King George VI and Queen Elizabeth outside of Province House in Charlottetown during their visit to Prince Edward Island on 14 June 1939. The King and Queen can be seen shaking hands with a group of war veterans. The man shaking the Queen's hand in the photograph is Nicholas Murphy. In 1939 King George VI of England and his wife Queen Elizabeth made a month-long tour of Canada. They set sail for Canada on 6 May and travelled for nine days across the Atlantic Ocean. The King and Queen's first stop in Canada was Quebec City. On 14 June 1939, near the end of their tour, the royal couple visited Charlottetown, PEI.

This work provides a history of the Latin American Mission Program (LAMP) which was established by the Diocese of Charlottetown in Prince Edward Island in 1968. The publication also includes personal reminiscences and stories of 19 Islanders who traveled to the Caribbean and Central America as missionaries with LAMP.

Arthur P. Johnstone fonds

This fonds consists of two books written by Arthur P. Johnstone which chronicle life in Long River PEI in the first half of the twentieth century. The first entitled "My memories of growing up on a farm in Long River PEI" includes vignettes about all types of farming including fox ranching, agricultural equipment, schools and education, roads, different modes of transportation, food and clothing, and social events. The second "History of Long River, Prince Edward Island" gives a brief history of the Long River followed by genealogical information about the families in the area.

Rennies Road Women's Institute fonds

The fonds contains the minute books of the Rennies Road Women's Institute from 2 March 1953 to 7 February 1989. Minute books also contain membership lists, lists of officers, and roll call as well as some financial records. The fonds also includes annual reports from 1953 to 1988. There are a number of provincial Women's Institute publications included in the fonds: 1934 and 1951 copies of "Hand Book for Use of Women's Institutes"; a blank 1979-80 "Program Handbook"; "Institute News" for Nov-Dec 1953 and March-April 1954; "Women Alone Again" published by the Federated Women's Institutes of Prince Edward Island in January 1987; and Annual Provincial Convention Programs, 1986 and 1988. The fonds also includes a two-page history by Shirley Andrews (Secretary Treasurer) which details the establishment and work of the Institute. Attached to the history is a copy of a welcome to the 1978 annual convention, and two poems written to mark the twentieth and twenty-first anniversaries of the Rennies Road Women's Institute.

Kathleen Ready McIver collection

This fonds consists of correspondence, photographs, photo albums, genealogical material, clippings, school notebooks and other material collected by Kathleen Ready McIver and belonging to members of the family of James A. and Annie M. Ready. A large portion of this fonds is related to Joseph Ready's time as a Pilot Officer in the Royal Air Force during World War II and his correspondence with his sisters Mary Ready and Kathleen (Ready) MacIver. The fonds has been divided into two series: Ready family textual records and Ready family photographs.

Provincial Treasurer fonds

This fonds consists of the administrative and financial records of the office of the Provincial Treasurer spanning the years 1775 to 1981. The Treasurer was required to keep a set of books in which the accounts of each government office were to be "duly entered, kept, and balanced." Originally, these records were to be presented to the Lieutenant Governor in Council for his inspection at quarterly intervals and upon retirement or removal from office, the books were to be handed on to the Treasurer's successor. Later, the books were examined by the Provincial Auditor. Included among these records are correspondence, journals, day books, various types of ledgers, warrant books, pay lists, bond books, Public Accounts, land assessment rolls, school district boundaries, and records of the office of the Deputy Provincial Treasurer. This fonds is divided into 7 series:

David A. E. Shephard fonds

The fonds consists of an article written for the Canadian Journal of Medicine and a book entitled "Island Doctor: John Mackieson and medicine in nineteenth century Prince Edward Island". Both were written by Dr. Shephard and discuss the life and work of Dr. John Mackieson who practiced medicine in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island from 1821 until his death in 1885. Much of the content is based on Mackieson's medical manuscripts which include 2 sets of case records, a synopsis of medical conditions common in his day, and a formulary and on his daily personal diaries.

St. John's Lodge No. 1, A.F.& A.M. fonds : [1852-2002]

The fonds consists of minute books of the proceedings of St. John's Lodge from 7 April 1852 to 17 December 2002. There are several gaps in the collection due to the loss of early records and a fire in the Masonic Hall in 1955.
