Marquess of Lorne fonds

The fonds consists of a microfilm of newspaper reports, published in The Times and The Scotsman, about Lord Lorne's tour. Includes an 1883 letter from Lord Castletown, describing a trip by CPR from Winnipeg to Calgary. The fonds also consists of photographs of sketches done during the 1881 trip, along with original 1870s sketches of European castles and scenes (possibly done by Princess Louise), which had been glued to the back of these photos. Includes a scrapbook of newspaper clippings written by Reverend James MacGregor who accompanied Lorne.

Also consists of plans of railway stations and their grounds; "title record" plans recording the names of individual land owners throughout the west; ledgers of townsite land sales, primarily in Alberta and British Columbia; and ledgers of land leases in western Canadian communities, including Winnipeg Beach, Manitoba.

Includes his article, "With the Savages in the Far West", published in the Canadian Photographic Journal, 1893. Also includes a diary of Boorne's cousin Ernest May (1897).
