Fonds consists of business records of William Mack, and political correspondence of William Mack and his son, William R. Mack.
Business records include correspondence relating to the operation of the Express Roller Mills Co, mortgages, deeds, and indentures, receipts, invoices and bills (arising mainly from the Express Roller Mills), and an account book concerning the grist milling trade.
Political correspondence consists mainly of appeals from constituents for assistance or patronage. Correspondents include Oliver Mowat, George P. Graham of Morrisburg, and Dr. Darby Bergin. Later correspondence is that of Mack's son, William R. Mack, who acted as sheriff of the United Counties.
Fonds also contains various diaries, including two diaries (1881-1884) of Martha Hastie of Lindsay, Ontario; a diary (July 1861) of a trip from Ogdensburg to New York via the St. Lawrence River and Atlantic Ocean (diarist unidentified); and a diary (1886) of a trip to Europe recorded by Minnie Snetsinger of Moulinette, Ontario.
Also included are various published materials, including an athletic sports programme, a Canadian War Memorial Exhibition programme, a programme of the Golden Jubilee Banquet of Fr. George Corbet, and a catalogue of a Montreal art exhibition.
Fonds also includes historical writings, including "Grand River," by Grant Smart, and "The Mountains and Trinity Church, Cornwall," by G.B. Stidwill. Also included are miscellaneous items, including a hand drawn map of Finch Township, a floor plan of the Legislative Assembly in Toronto, a list of recipes, and various invitations and calling cards.
Fonds also includes 17 photographs. The photographs depict buildings and homes in Cornwall; Galt Collegiate Institute, including photographs of the building, students, teachers, and the Headmaster; and a photograph of the Mack family in 1887.
