XV Olympic Winter Games, Marketing Group fonds

  • CA ccg ccg-2064
  • Fonds
  • 1976-1988, predominant 1982-1988

The records of the Marketing Group are "multiple media" in nature, although they are predominantly textual which includes 10 programmes, 9 postcards, 3 newsletters, 1 bulletin and 1 musical score. The oversize material includes 160 plans (venue plans and site plans), three charts, two posters and one map. The Marketing Group records, particularly in the licencing series, also includes cultural historic items (or artifacts) such as product samples, graphics samples and souvenir samples. Wherever possible, smaller items/samples have been placed into acid-free enclosures and kept within the originating file. However, the larger, more awkward items (buttons, pins, etc.) have been separated out into their own file folders directly following the originating file. As in the case of oversize items, notes have been added to indicate when an item has been removed from the originating file. In all cases, cultural historic items have been noted in the file lists in the printed inventory. See the conservation note below for more information on the care of these records. Some files from the licencing Program (Series II in the printed inventory) have been restricted because they contained personal and/or company credit information. These records may be viewed with the permission of Archives management. Other documents, such as reports and correspondence, were originally designated as "confidential," but have not been restricted since the confidential nature of the material had relevance only during the active life of the Marketing Group. The Marketing Group records consist of over 21 linear meters of material, which have been arranged and described into ten series, with some of these series further divided into sub series. City of Calgary. Board of Commissioners fonds

  • CA ccg ccg-2049
  • Fonds
  • 1909-1975

The fonds consists of records created by the Board of Commissioners. The records can all, with the exception of the Convention Centre files, be described as correspondence or subject files. From their establishment until the present, the Board of Commissioners have used simple file classification systems to arrange their files. These systems changed over time and the series, determined by the archivist, reflect changes to the classification system rather than changes in the types or nature of the records created. The first series consists of records created from 1909-1931 (predominant 1909-1921), the second from 1923-1945 (predominant 1923-1929), the third from 1945-1949, the fourth from 1950- 1959, the fifth from 1960-1970, and the sixth from 1971-1980. A separate series has been created for the records relating to the Calgary Convention Centre. City of Calgary. Law Department fonds

  • CA ccg ccg-2054
  • Fonds
  • 1909-1975

The fonds consists of the City Solicitor's records, as opposed to the records of other divisions within the department as it is currently structured. Most of the records were part of a single central filing system with nine series, numbered 1-9. Each of these series used the same sort of file coding system which is discussed below as part of each of the series descriptions. The records described in this inventory reflect the general legal work which has always been carried on by the City Solicitor and the Law Department. This is the work that is now done by the Law Division of the department. The Archives does not hold any records from the Claims Division or the Insurance Division. General Subject Files (6 series in the Law Department's filing system) comprise the largest portion of the Law Department records in the Archives. These records reflect the general work of the City Solicitor and his department over a period of more than fifty years and subjects reflect a broad range of internal and external issues. Subsequent series are much smaller. The litigation files (1 series) are case files of the City Solicitor and his staff relating to lawsuits in which The City was involved. The extent of these records in the Archives reflects only a small portion of litigation files created over time. Many more remain in semi- active storage.
