Viewegar family fonds

The fonds consists of photographs taken by Hugo Viewegar and his son, Lute Vieweger. Of particular note are nine autochromes, 1913 - 1914, taken by Hugo Viewegar. The autochrome is a very rare early colour photographic process. The originals are 5"X7" and 3 1/2"X5" transparencies on glass plates. The subject matter is native people, Royal North West Mounted Police (RNWMP), family portraits, a house and a still life, all taken in Edmonton. Also by Hugo Viewegar are nine black and white photographs and four black and white negatives, 1913 - 1914, of homesteading, RNWMP, the City of Edmonton paddle steamer, and Edmonton scenes. Two of the prints are vintage albumen prints (RNWMP). The remainder of the above are modern prints. Also included are five black and white photographs and four black and white negatives, [193-], by Lute Vieweger, of riverboats, airplanes and Fort Chipewyan. All five prints are modern prints. Also included is an audio reel recording of an interview with Lute Vieweger about his life, recorded in 1974.

Included are promotional films, campaign advertisements (radio and television), logos and slogans, tribute/retrospective films about Peter Lougheed, recordings of party conventions, conferences, meetings, speeches and rallies, and television broadcasts of current affairs programs, news specials, interviews, public announcements and documentaries. Topics covered in the collection include agriculture, oil development, national energy policies, and the Heritage Savings Trust Fund, as well as scenes of Alberta people, towns and cities, rural areas and industry.

Harold A. Stepney fonds

The fonds consists of correspondence, journals and reports created during the course of Harold Stepney's employment with the Northern Alberta Railways Company. Fonds also includes records of his involvement with the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. The records cover his career as an engineer, and as a Rules and Safety Inspector, and also cover his education to become an engineer, or engineman. The fonds also contains newsclippings and articles that highlight some of Harold Stepney's own personal interests, including elections, the 11th Commonwealth Games and Centennial celebrations. The fonds is comprised of the following series: Railway records; Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers; and Personal interests.

The fonds consists of: convent and school records in the ecclesiastical Province of St. John the Evangelist run by the Sisters of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin and embracing Alberta and Saskatchewan. The records of these institutions include, with gaps, the chronicles of yearly highlights with, in most cases, yearly lists of personnel and students; the financial journals which normally contain index of boarders and/or students, registers of admissions and departures, journals of receipts and expenditures; volumes containing programs of events, such as birthdays or anniversaries or Christmas concerts; half-yearly financial reports; inventories of properties; statements of accounts normally containing records of gifts, costs, taxes, insurance policies; minutes of local meetings; records of pupils associated with the Sisters in clubs; records of awards; registers of first communions and confirmations. The fonds also contains: materials concerning the Japanese internment camps in Slocan, British Columbia, during the years of the Second World War; some materials concerning the general administration of the Sisters; publications written by the Sisters or used by the Sisters in the schools.

The fonds consists of records created by Mr. Ridge in pursuance of his role as the Provincial Archivist of Alberta, documenting what he thought to be important or mandatory transfers of records to the Archives. Also included in the fonds are the personal papers of Mr. Ridge that, for the majority, were created as a result of his active involvement in the national and international archival community.
