Croken Family fonds

The records consist of photographs and personal records from Patty and Rudy Croken and Jennie (Tomshak) Croken. They include P.V. Croken financial records from the P.V Croken Store; Patty’s correspondence from 1956-1973; personal income tax returns for Rudy & Jennie Croken from 1953-1958, and for Patty & Daisy Croken from 1958-1966; farm accounts and wheat board certificates; the papers for building Rudy & Jennie’s home in 1954; and a story about working in the Post Office, written by Jennie Croken in 2014. The photographs are a wide assortment of subjects from the Peace Celebration in Grande Prairie in 1919, to Jennie on her travels in 1986.

Nicolas and Erena Woronuk fonds

The fonds consists of two copies of a biographical account of Nicholas (Nylolai) Woronuk and family, written in Ukrainian by a niece, Mrs. John Bzovey of Rycroft. The document was typed and and edited by I. Goresky, of Edmonton, and tells of the family's epic journey from Edson to Grande Prairie in 1913. Included in the fonds are a shorter account of the story, in English, as published in "Ukrainians in Alberta"; additional hand written accounts from the Woronuk family in English and Ukrainian; and a letter from I. Goresky to Dr. Jerry Petryshyn referencing the history of Ukrainians in Alberta, and especially the Woronuk family.

The fonds consists of records of the Spirit River Settlement Historical Society including executive records and records of their History Book Committee which consist of planning documents, financial records, minutes and correspondence, and original and/or edited copies of submissions to the Spirit River history book Chepi Sepe. The first sections of the Book Committee records include a history of the general region and the Spirit River Settlement area, the coming of settlers and the growth of agriculture, businesses, industries, municipal governments, the history of veterans of WWI and WWII, schools, churches, medical facilities, and cultural and recreational groups. The second main body of the records contains original and/or edited copies of over 630 family histories arranged in alphabetical order by surname.

A copy of all records relating to game reports, league statistics, play off statistics, player statistics, schedules and league minutes were retained. Only duplicate copies of records were not retained.

The fonds consists of one set of minutes, game reports, schedules, league statistics, and play off statistics in 1979 for the teams Rycroft "Flames", Sexsmith "Generals", Hythe"Mustangs", Grande Prairie "Turbo Pumpers", "Doug's 66 Oilers", "G.P. Shadows" and Spirit River "Rangers". By 1983 the League final statitics show the teams as Hythe "Mustangs, Rycroft "Flames", Sexsmith "Generals", Grande Prairie "Blazers", Sexsmith "Huskies", and Spirit River "Rangers".

A copy of all records relating to game reports, league statistics, play off statistics, player statistics, schedules and league minutes were retained. Only duplicate copies of records were not retained.

South Peace Hockey League fonds

The fonds consists of game reports, League statistics, play off statistics, and schedules for the following teams: Grande Prairie "Athletics", Spirit River "Rangers", Fort St. John "Flyers", Hythe "Mustangs", and Beaverlodge "'77s". Sturgeon Lake "Blues" appear in records only in 1977-78, Chetwynd Challengers joined in 1982, and Tumbler Ridge Coal Kings in 1984-85. Also included are a few pages of minutes and correspondence.
