Ella May (Jacoby) Walker fonds

This fonds consists of correspondence and interviews relating to the research for her historical novel, Fortress North. It also includes a manuscript for the book and her ink and water colour illustrations for each chapter, a series of historical paintings of Edmonton and area, records relating to her work for the City of Edmonton Archives and Landmarks Committee and miscellaneous correspondence, sketches, and notes.

This fonds consists of material collected and created by Reg Appleyard, Doug Matheson, Rev. Harry Meadows, Matheson and Company, and the staff of Meadowcroft Seniors’ Residence through their function of running the Meadowcroft corporations and providing quality affordable housing in Edmonton between 1969 and 2010. It contains legal documents, correspondence, reports, committee minutes, pamphlets, photos, plans and audiovisual material.

An attempt has been made to preserve the original order of the material. The files themselves have been arranged into 5 sous-fonds and various series. The sous-fonds are as follows:

The papers in this fonds are concerned with the business of real estate, investments, and commercial and private insurance in Edmonton throughout Harry Evans' career. A substantial portion of correspondence deals with land tenure, municipal taxation and assessment of property situated in northeastern and central Alberta and parts of Saskatchewan. A smaller portion of the collection is concerned with general and personal correspondence. The entire collection provides an excellent picture of business and social life in Edmonton over a period of 67 years.

Ivor Dent fonds

This fonds consists of material relating to Ivor Dent's World War II service, teaching and educational career, political involvement including his term as Mayor of Edmonton, and his family and personal life. This fonds also covers Dr. Dent's involvement with various Commonwealth Games organizations including minutes, reports, correspondence, bylaws and constitution for both the Commonwealth Games Federation and the Commonwealth Games Assocciation of Canada. On April 11, 1984, Dr. Dent was invested as a member of the Order of Canada. MS 157.9 includes Commonwealth Games Association of Canada material, political correspondence and clippings, business material, M.Ed Thesis, and other ephemera. MS 157.10 includes Commonwealth Games Association of Canada material, primarily related to the Brisbane, Australia games in 1982, the Aukland, New Zealand games in 1990, and the Victoria, British Columbia games in 1994. This also includes some material related to Dent's activities with the CGAC. Also included inthis fonds is some personal material and other ephemera. MS 157.11 includes material regarding Ivor Dent's Order of Canada, his Commonwealth Medal for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada, his real estate dealings, his political and social activities (including the New Democratic Party, Municipal Politics, Alberta's Senatorial Election, the Alberta Council on Aging, and the Commonwealth Games Association), his father Charles Lionel Dent, his son Charles Dent, and correspondence and other papers. This fonds also contains publications, including two books from Geoffrey Handley-Taylor, What Peace Means to Me, the REport of the Chief Electoral Officer on the Provincial Senatorial Election, 1989, and Kaleidoscope of Nauru, 1983. MS 157.12 contains material for the Alberta Common Front campaign against cuts to social spending, a collection of business cards, political material, and correspondence and other materials related to Dent's volunteer and business activities. MS 157.13 consists of material on the Alberta Common Front activist movement, SOS Children's Villages of Canada, Commonwealth Games Association of Canada, Victoria Commonwealth Games Society. This fonds also includes cards for the Dent's 50th wedding anniversary, material from courses Dent taught at Grant MacEwan Community College, correspondence and other papers, and a certificate commemorating Dent's acitvity as a volunteer for the International Year of the Volunteer.

This fonds consists of correspondence, minutes and reports relating to the historical interests of Samuel Archibald Dickson, particularly his involvement in the campaign to restore/replicate Fort Edmonton in association with the Northern Alberta Pioneers and Old Timers Association (for which he also served as legal counsel), the Historical Society of Alberta, the Edmonton Museum Committee and the Edmonton Archives and Landmarks Committee.

The collection consists of materials collected by Murray Davis of Edmonton between 1948 and 1997. The fonds contains programs and magazines pertaining to the cultural life of Edmonton and Canada. Programs of such groups as the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, the Edmonton Opera Association, the Citadel Theatre, and the Alberta Ballet are included. There is also a collection of Canadian cultural magazines such as Encore, Update, Celebrity News, and Arts West. In addition, there are programs and brochures of special social, cultural, and sporting events in Edmonton.
