Spirit River Settlement Historical Society fonds

The fonds consists of records of the Spirit River Settlement Historical Society including executive records and records of their History Book Committee which consist of planning documents, financial records, minutes and correspondence, and original and/or edited copies of submissions to the Spirit River history book Chepi Sepe. The first sections of the Book Committee records include a history of the general region and the Spirit River Settlement area, the coming of settlers and the growth of agriculture, businesses, industries, municipal governments, the history of veterans of WWI and WWII, schools, churches, medical facilities, and cultural and recreational groups. The second main body of the records contains original and/or edited copies of over 630 family histories arranged in alphabetical order by surname.

The sub-series consists of the History Book Committee membership, lists of family names and feature stories, a list of donations towards a comupter purchase, a bibliography , a book layout, a brochure for advance sales of the book, and an information booklet for the Spirit River Homecoming event.

The sub-series consists of original writings for the Introduction and Chapter 1 "Where the Rivers Flowed" of the history book Chepi Sepe, including articles on "How Spirit River Got its Name", "Dunvegan", "Flora and Fauna of the Area", "History of the Spirit River Settlement", "Pioneer English and Calkins", "The Bronco Creek District"and "The Happy Valley District".

Chapter 5 - "Ripples Widen" Part 1 Clubs and Organizations

The sub-series consists of original writings or edited copies of Chapter 4, "Changing Courses" Part 4, for the history book Chepi Sepe. Records relate to social groups, and histories of cultural clubs and organizations including 4-H clubs, Brownies and Guides, the Rebekah and Oddfellow Lodges, Knights of Columbus, Cadets, drama club, Women's Institute, Catholic Women's League, Gung Hi and Cuisine Club, Senior Citizens' Happy Hour Club, Kinettes and Kinsmen, Happy Valley Commmunity Club, Woking Whirlers, Judy Brown's School of Dance, Central Peace Folk Dance Club, Tops, Royal Canadian Legion & Ladies Auxiliary to the Legion, Spirit River Agricultural Society, Spirit River and District Band, Spirit River Municipal Library, Spirit River Masonic Lodge, and Order of the Eastern Star.

The fonds consists of family histories, school and church histories, community services and activities histories and miscellaneous writings, news clippings and correspondence used for producing The Big Bend, a community history book covering the areas of Blueberry Creek, Blueberyy Mountain, Fourth Creek, Ksituan, Silver Valley, and Whitburn.

Bay Tree Community Club fonds

The fonds consists of records relating to the Bay Tree Community Club. They are divided into four series: minutes, financial records, correspondence and quilting, which the ladies used as a fundraiser. The correspondence includes information of the closing of the Silver Valley Campsite.
The records were in no particular order when they arrived, but the minutes were grouped together in duotangs labeled with the year. It should be noted that there are balance sheets in the duotangs with the minutes, and original order has been maintained. Taped to the inside cover of one of the duotangs was a photo marked 1991. This was removed and added to the other photos of quilts.

Bay Tree Community Club

Bay Tree Community Hall fonds

The fonds consists of records relating to the operation of the hall and the meetings that were held in the running of the hall. There are minute books and list of memberships and executives; financial documents, deposit books and annual returns; receipts and documents pertaining to the running of the hall; the original lease agreement for the land the hall sits upon; and nine photographs of the Bay Tree community.
The fonds is arranged in six series based on record content: minutes, financial records, annual returns, land, hall operations and photographs. The arrangement has been set by the Archivist as for the most part the records were not in any set order.

Many Creeks Cemetery Company fonds

The fonds consists of correspondence between various government bodies and those interested in establishing the cemetery from 1944-1959. They include letters relating to acquiring government approval for establishing a cemetery in 1944-1945, on-going correspondence, and a duplicate certificate of title issued to the Many Creeks Cemetery Company in 1945.
