Alpine Club of Canada fonds

Fonds constitutes the principal resource for the study of the history of Canadian mountaineering. It provides a wealth of information on individual alpinists, expeditions, mountains, national parks, conservation, climbing, alpine organizations, publications, guiding, scientific study and the Alpine Club itself. The fonds consists of four Sous-fonds: I. Alpine Club of Canada records; II. Mount Everest Expedition (1982) records; III. Personal papers and photographs; IV. Other material. Club administration records (series I.A.) pertain to executive positions; head office; finance; camps, climbing and treks; expeditions; huts and properties; clubhouses; library; publications; photography; other committees; other activities; and other. Other club records include section records (series I.B.), hut registers and summit records (series I.C.).

The fonds consists of constitution and bylaws (1962-1963); minutes (1914-1926, 1961-1970); secretary's correspondence and subject files (1960-1971); and photographs of executive members, conventions, and Winter Games participants (1963-1968). Also includes some national AAUC records (1958-1967) and Alberta Amateur Boxing Association records (1969-1974) kept by Bob and Betty Lucas when they served in official capacities with these organizations.

The fonds consists of the 1947 Dominion Amateur Wrestling Championships program and list of entries; the 1948 Boxing and Wrestling Championships program and list of entries; the 1948 Official Boxing Handbook; and 1948 clippings from the Athabasca Echo newspaper regarding the event. The 1942 and 1951 Provincial Interscholastic Track and Field Championships were also held in Athabasca. The fonds contains a souvenir program, participant names and certificates for the 1951 event.

Amber Valley Community Association fonds

The fonds consists of reprinted newspaper articles, a list of electors for 1938 and 1958, a few unidentified photocopied pictures and 10 photographs; also the booklet "Memoirs of the Official Opening of the Amber Valley Community Centre, June 28, 1975". The photos include: W.G. and Alice Cromwell, Columbus Bowen, Bob Jamerson, and Williams and Kinamore families. The booklet "Rural Women in Focus" was printed by the Amber Valley Community Association to celebrate the United Nations 1975 International Women's Year. Included is information on Lydia Williams, Marjorie Logan, Nancy Appleby, Amber Valley pioneer women, Athabasca Art Club, Martha Edwards and Palma Lennie. Two photographs from the Athabasca Archives collection include: Georgia Toles and an unknown woman. The map is a hand drawn Amber Valley Heritage Map, 1987, showing the present and former land owners in Township 66, Range 20, W4M. As well as the names of farm families, the map locates two stores, two post offices, the school and the cemetery.

Volume 1 contains information on Calgary, Canada, the history of the Olympic Winter Games, OCO '88, and demonstration sports. Volumes 2 through 7 contains information and athlete biographies on the Olympic winter sports: alpine skiing, nordic skiing, bobsled and luge, figure skating, ice hockey and speed skating.
